I worked there too, Mike. A little before you. He employed many people over the years. He moved the store many times as well. He also found me a room to rent.
His parts wheels were amazing. Much of which came from the Sho~Bud store after it went out of business. I don't remember him ever getting mad or grumpy. RIP.

Bobbe’s passing is a shock - we talked about flying & and he said he wanted to fly an F4U - don’t know if ever got the chance -but- if he did, he must still have a smile on his face .

I'm absolutely devastated ! He inspired me to play pedal steel guitar ! That's no lie. I saw Bobbe play at the 1st Columbus gospel steel guitar jubilee. He flew into Columbus in the bitter cold and put on a great show. He really made me think the PSG was cool with the car wreck thingy he did. He was funny too. I loved his sense of humor. I just didn't know he was that sick. Man, what a loss to our community.

As others have said, this is really a shock. I first met Bobbe back in the early 80's, and from that time on, any place I'd meet him, he would treat me like I was his best friend. I've bought many steel guitars from him over the years and always enjoyed going by his store, whether buying something or just to say hello when I would be in town.

I was at Steel Guitar Nashville a few weeks ago, and unfortunately Bobbe wasn't there. I hated that I didn't get to see him, and I hate it even more now.

So long ol' friend. May you rest in peace.

Sad news.

Bobbe and I exchanged emails once, that I remember, and he told this old AF retiree about his job in the USAF. I hope to see you in the next life Bobbe.

Very sad news.I never had a chance to meet Bobbe,but when
I heard one of his albums 15 years ago I was impressed.
He will surely be missed in PSG community.

I'm really sad to hear about Bobbe's passing. Always enjoyed visiting and talking with him at the store or at gigs. A cool guy for sure.

Talking with Bobbe was always a pleasure. I was a customer several times over the years, and always enjoyed his mastery of steel guitar. One of the things that always floored me was after not talking with him for several months, I could call the store and if he answered, he would recognize my voice and ask if it was me. And I know he knew many, many people the world over.

I'm very saddened to hear this. Being new I never met Bobbe but have watched several of his instructional videos. He seemed like a nice and genuine person, and was a great player.

So sorry to hear the bad news. I met Bobbe in 1965 in Ocean View VA, He was playing in one of the many Bars on the beach. I was a young Navy man and i went inside, He really sounded good on the Steel, Can't remember what the brand he was playing. I talked to him during the break, He said he was building Steels I ask how much he said around $200 Bucks. which was quite a bit at that time. I made a down payment and about a month later he had it ready. it was an S10 with 2 pedals solid aluminum cabinet. it was rather crude by todays standards but was playable it was mostly built by hand. it was my first and with Bobbe's help i learned quite a bit on it. I saw Bobbe years later and he inquired what had happen to the steel, I had traded it to a guy in MS for a fender 400. He wished i still had it so he could buy it back. i wished i had i would have gave it to him. I have always credited him with starting me on the pedal steel. A very nice man who will be sorely missed by all.

I am overwhelmed and touched by all the posts, emails and phone calls pertaining to Bobbe's passing. Unfortunately, I still have no news as to services or memorial details.

His family is taking care of this and as soon as I know anything, I will pass it on. The store, at this point, is closed due to legal matters until further notice, so please be patient. If you have guitars in for service or have shipped guitars for trade or us to purchase, please call and leave a message and we WILL get back to you.

Still no mention or Articles in the Nashville papers or news.

I am really sad at the news of Bobbe passing. I loved his playing stories and the wonderful newsletter. He encouraged me on my move to Nashville. He is missed.

It's been a few weeks now.

We are all seeking closure in re: the passing of our dearly admired Bobbe Seymour.

With the deepest of respect to the family members and the close associates of Bobbe......are there any updates with reference to his final arrangements?

Bobbe mattered so much and to a great many of us out here.

We genuinely care and are patient. TX

I'm shocked. I didn't know this. Bobbe is going to leave a big void. He was a very accomplished individual. PHD, and a great player. I loved his opinions. Hold on to your loved ones. We are only here for a short time. I will miss you Mr. Seymour.

I bought many of his teaching DVD's when I was in Nashville. Prayers for him and his family.

I never had the privilege of meeting Bobbe. But I enjoyed his emails regarding the history of pedal steel guitar players. For someone like me who is new to this incredible instrument, those emails / newsletters were great.
I hope someone will keep them going.
