Thanks for the support guys.
Once again I want to remind you all the b0b and Scotty and maybe a few other retailers will be selling the disks, not me. I'm not equipped to deal with sales.
I've been inundated with E-mails in the last couple of says from people who want to buy a disk. and that's great, except I'm the wrong person to talk to about that.
I will make an announcement when the disks are available. This will probably happen some time in January.
At That time, I hope you will all move on this immediately so I can recoup my costs sooner rather than later.

Hi Mike,
I'll take one for sure. Also, I would be happy to "Pre-pay" b0b for this in advance, if that helps at all.

Mike - Put me down for 2 copies. I've wanted to see and hear this performance since you first mentioned on this forum and it will be a great present for a certain steel player I know.

Hey Mike, why don't you just take advance orders? Then when they come in, you could mail each of these guys their DVD with a bill and recoup your investment quickly.
You have 50 guys here in this topic who want one. At $40 each, that's $2k. You could cut out the middleman (me) and be in the black within a few months.

That's a good idea Bobby. I might just do that.
There is a 3-4 week turnaround time from the duplicaters, and we need to fix a few small problems in the menu section, so we're probably looking at mid to late January before the disks are available.
I still don't know how much Mike Brebes is going to ask for his time in authoring the mster disk. He put in a lot of hours and worked very hard on the project, and deserves to be paid substantially. One of the things he did was remove the sound track, digitally enhance it, and replace it. He and I will be meeting this evening and discussing his compensation, among other things.
I still don't know how much this project is going to ultimately cost, and how much to ask for the disks. In fact, I have no idea what I'm doing at all. All I know is that this video of Curly's 2 1986 concerts HAD to be preserved. It's too important a document to allow to be lost.
I just hope all you guys don't change you minds when you realize the disks aren't going to be free.

Mike,
Once again, don't forget all those steel fanatics in Europe! Can you make this dvd "region free"? That would be great!

Mike,
I will probably buy one......but my advice? Do NOT print 1,000 of them with the hopes of selling them all. You may wind up with 500 coasters sitting around your house.
I am guessing that b0b's first post was referencing the magazine that pretty much sunk one of the Nashville-area steelers a few years ago....everyone said they wanted a subscription and then very few people bothered with the magazine.....and various retailers who promised to sell it backed off the idea once the magazine was created. It left him with a ton of unsold copies.
I'm a bit surprised that b0b's advice was to produce the 1,000 DVD's anyway.....considering the magazine fiasco as well as the fact that we're not dealing with a Lloyd Green or Buddy Emmons DVD here....
For what its worth...

Well, first of all, the cost of 1000 DVDs isn't going to break Mike. Once the investment is made, the DVDs will exist and they
will eventually sell.
There's always been a solid demand for Curly Chalker's music. I've sold out of several titles of his on cassette. The Steel Guitar Record Club LP has long been out of print.
I'm just saying that the only way for Mike to recoup his investment
quickly is to retail them himself for the first few months before he wholesales it to me, Scotty and whoever else will be selling them.

1,000 is the smallest number I can have manufactured. Anything less is burned, and then we have the problem if them not working on all systems.

I have bought several DVD's in the past. Most have great playing, but have terrible audio and sound tracks. How is the quality of this one?
