We had a rehearsal Monday with a fill in guitar player for a gig on Saturday. MAN. what a difference. This guy knows how to play professionally. He knows what the volume control on the amp and guitar are for. Not to mention when NOT to play. Everyone in the band now knows how bad it was before.

Unfortunately they voted me in as the new guitar player. I've been playing guitar on 4 songs already. So I'll be playing about 60/40 guitar and PSG going forward. Time to woodshed and get my guitar chops back.
Zum SD-12 Black, Zum SD-12 Burly Elm Several B-Bender Tele's and a lot of other gear I can't play.

I spent half my money on gambling, alcohol and wild women. The other half I wasted. W.C. Fields

Unfortunately, many soundmen are frustrated guitar players who cannot qualify for the band, so they compensate by boosting the guitar over everyone else.
The only thing worse is a frustrated piano player at the sound board.

I submitted to the bias long ago and accepted that if I was barely heard in the mix it was OK as long as I was paid for my presence.
