Mine is scheduled to arrive on Wednesday so I can't wait either. It was so smooth when I tried it out. Absolutely flawless for the Lap Steel Guitar. not sure how it'd work for pedal players but I'm sure the strap and pedal board option may be fine.

I was thinking of mounting a piece of foam under the toe end of it so it always returns to a certain spot when I take my foot off. Any reason why this wouldn't work?

Yeah it'll mess up the calibration setting so you'll have to change it.

then constantly monitor how much sponginess the foam is losing each time you depress it. It will never return to exact position.

Hence why its perfect for us Lap Steel Guitar players as we have feet to spare.

However I will have more info once I put mine through the paces.

Looks like there's a clip on the left to hold at least the power cable. I'd tape or velcro the cable to the pedal case to avoid the plug from rotating in the jack. I didn't see a clip on the right side. Stationary cables plugged into a moving pedal? Hmmmm... Perhaps something to verify with EHX. Edit - I'd use right angle plugs and hold them on there somehow.

So it turns out it's absolutely fine.

I have some L shaped cables. Works fine.

Once you lift your foot off though it returns to its open position allowing sound to pass. So if you are the type of player to leave it in the up ( volume closed) positions and walk off the stage in between sets with your guitar still on and volume knobs turned up you need to change that.

So I have my volume pedal connected to my multieffects pedal which has its own expression pedal so that solves that.

You have to buy a platform for attaching it to your pedal board so all I'm waiting for is the new pedal board to arrive.

But I can definitely say you can fine tune the EHX next step and really get smooth volume swells.

Even Billy Robinson chicken and train noises with your foot instead of rolling the volume knob manually with your finger.

I just got back from picking up my Electro Harmonix volume pedal,tomorrow I will hook it up.

Ordered one yesterday. Probably keep it as a backup. I get great tone from a old Ernie Ball and an Izzy attached to it.

I'll post some pics of my setup maybe this weekend but man is it smooth. They should've called it butter milk.

You can also set how much you want your max vol to go. Which is great especially if you have it tweaked perfectly at a small gig.

The calibration is a breeze and I like my travel of the pedal to be a bit shorter so I set mine as Off position not all the way up.

So I can use smaller movements.

At least the input is on the right side.

Any tone coloration?

Theoretically the signal is buffered.

So theoretically there is a difference in the signal but I don't hear it. It sounds as smooth as ever.

How on earth did they get the pedal so responsive. Aliens plain and simple. Cause that technology is not known by other pedal manufacturers. If you haven't tried one compare it to other volume pedals.

It's so clean not a snag or stutter. ALIEN TECHNOLOGY. Lol

Well,I finally got a chance to play with my new EHX volume pedal I bought the plastic cradle with it for an additional fifteen bucks Velcro don't like me ...this pedal is pretty awesome I can't tell any tone difference,I would recommend it to anyone who needs a volume pedal plus it has a cool red light!

CONS:

If you are a guitar player you can't walk around too much while its directly connected to your guitar as it will move freely on the floor and follow after you on stage like a lost puppy.

Not really a problem for us Steel players.

Because the entire pedal moves you have to make sure your cable work is clean and tidy otherwise if a cable gets caught underneath forget out it working correctly.

You can't calibrate it while mounted on the pedalboard

Operation while connected to a pedalboard is not feasible. Its volume is not read correctly thus making you have to return it to a horizontally flat position making it return to full volume.

Not sure why as it was working upon first calibration when mounted on the pedalboard.

Anywho you MUST calibrate it on level ground and I am finding its operation is accurate when on level ground. i.e. You can't operate it on a pedalboard.

Shame but I still love it as its smoothness outweighs the cons.
