I agree - loved b0b's set
I had a lady come up to me after I told them how to spell - small b - zero - small b and she was up set - she was an English teacher
I explained that we were all friends and we laugh about it plus it was OK with all of us
She said But not proper
we all know none of us are proper and the best part no one cares

I too loved his set and got an insight into his D6 tuning as well. Also, he's simply a very cool hang.
b0b is among those players who, in the face of a supposedly hardcore, standing-O's-for-speed-pickers, country-SD-10 audience, bravely soldiers on with outside-the-box song selections that are compelling and eye-opening, and performed beautifully as well.
One of the great things about the Phoenix show, in particular, is that we get to hear players like b0b, Dan Tyack, Doug Livingston, Rick Schmidt, Mike Perlowin (not in attendance this year
) the late Al Vescovo, (all Californians...? Hmmm...) and others who challenge the stylistic boundaries of the instrument.
I had a totally great time, as has been
de rigeur at SWSGA shows in days gone by. I yearn in anticipation for January 2014.

Oh man...what a great time we all had. I heard some great players, both on steel and other instruments...saw a bunch of old friends and made new ones.
I also got up early to catch Bobby Lee's set...very cool. And, it was great to meet and to thank him.... he's really made a huge contribution to our instrument and to all of us with the Forum.
And a special tip of the hat to Billy, Joe, and all the folks at the SWSGA. You really know how to throw a party. Thanks for inviting me to be a small part of it.
See you next year...

I add my thanks to Billy, Joe, and the whole SWSGA crew that created yet another great, great weekend of steel guitar heaven and camaraderie. It's been an honor to be invited to play at all of these shows for a decade now (!) and I look forward to many more January trips to Phoenix! The players were all superb and the backup band and sound crew (the Henchmen) second to none. Special thanks to Peter Freiberger and Christopher Woitach for agreeing to sit in on my set; they did a stellar job. What a great way to kick off the new year!
Thanks again,

Playing a set of jazz standards with Jim and meeting and playing with Christopher was something special among three days of one inspiring performance after another by so many players. I can hardly wait for next years show!

Well, it took me 40 years to finally get to an official steel guitar show -- what a blast. Big kudos to Billy and the SWSGA crew for their hard work and dedication. Thanks to everyone for your hospitality in welcoming the "California gang" into your midst. I had such a great time and met so many friendly and talented people. It was a very inspirational weekend. Thanks again. Boo

b0b's set was a great way to start the day. I've got to say that I think the California gang is pretty cool too. Thanks to Billy, Joe, Dave B, Peggy & Troy and all the rest of the SWSGA crew for a great weekend.

I truly don't ever wish to complain about work or appearing ungrateful, but my heart was split between the music I needed to do and the music I wanted to participate in at the Phoenix show. This is the 2nd year in a row I've missed visiting and hearing all the great music.
Congrats for what I'm sure was another great show. I sure hope to be there next year!

I left my wife in bed and ran down to catch b0b's set Sat morning and I'm sure glad I did. Love how he played that 8-string D6th tuning. Nice music.
Many thanks to the club for a great convention.
