I wish I had a lot if "bumpy road" stories.
I will say that my first couple months were really frustrating as I learned to coordinate my feet and knees with what my hands were doing.
The only thing that kept that guitar from sailing out the window was the fact that I was learning on borrowed guitars ("Sorry, Mrs. Fox, I can't return your Lloyd Green, the slivers are in my front yard")
But every Thursday evening I got to pick the brain of Mike Auldridge, since I was going to the Birchmere anyway.
Once I got the hang of it, I understood why Mike told my dad I'd make a better steelman than Dobro picker: I RELATE to this contraption.
These things are easier to pull music out of than a Dobro or lap steel. I think the music and it comes out of the speaker.
2 pedal steels, a lapStrat, and an 8-string Dobro (and 3 ukes)
More amps than guitars, and not many effects

forget your perfect offering

that's how the light gets in"...Leonard Cohen

Ain't nothing quite like hearin' that high lonesome bent sound!
