That comment about Rickenbacher spare parts left over from the '30s, enough to build many new fry pans is somewhat true.I soke to John Hall, Rickenbacker's CEO, a few years ago at NAMM and he mentioned that the factory has many original parts and could
build quite a few original fry pans from them. I know this was about the time that Rickenbacker was about to celebrate their 75th Anniversary a few years back. I have quite a few pre-war Rickenbacher Bakelites, with the different knob configurations that evolved, and was willing to loan them at the time for display. I ended up trading a couple with him.

Juxtapose this with past attempts to ellicit any info from company employees about the old steel guitars and pickups, only to be met repeatedly with complete ignorance from those spoken to, no matter what lower management level. They had no clue of Rickenbacker history prior to The Beatles. It's surprising somebody had the seniority and sense to bother keeping the parts with no intention to do anything with them.

I caught up with Ross last weekend when I was on the West coast doing some gigs. He invited me to go and have a look at your frypan, Ron, but Alas, time was not on my side. Ross is a stellar guy!

I'd just like to add that I've learned from corresponding with Ross that the 'ukulele played by Sam Lemann in that new Lucky Oceans frypan video was made by him as well. He makes them in the old way, nice and light, small bridge, hide glue and shellac. That's why it sounds so perfectly old school in that video. Anyone wanting a soprano or tenor uke with that true Hawaiian sound should contact him.

So, my friend Dave Brewer happened to be on hand to film the birthing of my frypan with Ross Coole, and has uploaded some youtube videos of the pouring and the revealing of the cast. Worth a little look.

By the way, Dave has just taken possession of one of Ross' 000 acoustic guitars!

Wow! After being away for awhile, I just saw this thread. That's one gorgeous guitar. I'd sell off a bunch of my other ones for one of those. Lucky makes it sound all that much better.

Deke had to sell a bunch of stuff a while back and he had some of the Hallmark guitars on the block, might be able to still snag one if you contact him and you're lucky.
