Ok now that there are enough stories from all the shipping companies....you now should know...."things happen".....and it is NOT their fault....it is your own.
You should pack it right and have it insured...or make sure the sender packs it right and insures it. If you packed it right....and something happened to it.....than You Did NOT pack it right...and it's still your own fault.
I've shipped with everyone of them....and have had zero probs(sure things have happened)......meaning Nothing was damaged and collection is no problem if you have proper insurance and paper work.
I've watched both major shippers throw a steel guitar 10 feet....and nothing happened to it.....I've watched both shippers throw Amplifiers 10 feet and nothing happened to it.....simply because I know how to pack.....and I always tell the person sending me something.....to pack it the way I tell them and insure it........
So if anything ever does happen....then it is MY OWN FAULT.......so maybe the finger pointing should be pointing somewhere other than the obvious; as it's easier to blame someone other than yourself.....
