I still have the names on paper from then .I am trying to think how I can blow them up where you can read them . I had recorded them too but the tapes are all bad now.I will send [2] more snap shots .One will be Chubby Howard and One will be Big Jim Vest and Johnny Paycheck. I think that year they had Fan Fair that week thats why there were so many players there.

Wow, what an amazing thing to see all those brilliant pickers in one place. And to see the Big E playing bass!! I did not recognize Paul at all at first, but after reading it was him there could be no doubt. Thank you so much for taking the time to scan those pictures so that we could all see them, I really appreciate it.

Jim,
Dumplin is Johnny Cox. Chick Beekley is the hippie looking guy with the 12 string Sho-Bud. So it's two different people.
Edited to add that the drummer with Chick is Hank Whitsell. My wife worked with him at Gabe's years ago.

I guess I sorta missed the point; it must be a bit of an "insider" thread. Without the names listed at the beginning, I didn't understand what the pictures were about(not recognizing more than a couple of the players I didn't understand the thread at all) - then when the names were listed there were still 8 or so I'd never heard of.
Was this some sort of special gathering or something and I missed it in the thread somewhere?

Hey, That's Hal Rugg in #18 playing the heck out of my steel, LOL!!! It's a 1973 Emmons Push Pull D-10 Fatback, matte rosewood mica. He owned it until 1979 when it was purchased by Pat Coyne. I bought it from Pat in 1996 after it was rebuilt by Sonny Purdum.
Is there any way I could get a high resolution hard copy print of this one, please? I'd gladly pay for it. It is the history of my friend and the guitar we have both enjoyed.
Also, if anyone has a recording of this or any show that you know of with Hal playing this guitar, I would enjoy hearing it.
Thanks,
Michael T.
