The usualy suspects will moan it's not real country,

but for Jessica age when growing up this sounds
like the country of that period.
Not her grandpappy's country for sure.

I like the way the GOO is showcasing new artist.
It will get more young people interested in Country Music.
We may lose some viewers, but chances are we'll gain new viewers.

Did anyone take a listen to the new gal on the "Opry" that sang "Daddy You Can Let Go"? Seems I didn't hear anything about her.What did you think?

I really like Crystal Shawanda, she did great and it was her first time also!
New talent popping up in country music.

Yes Theresa...It is good to see all the new talent.I hope that all of these "Young Ones" bring a little more to music. As for "Jessica".I just think she is cute.I watched "The Newlyweds", and if folks could see that show right now, they would see a "comic" for sure.
"Nick Lashay" always made her look like she was stupid...But....she's the one that is working,and has her name out there.
All I have seen of him are all his girl friends.
Ron does not like her, but I do and have her CD from before she went country.She started out singing "Gospel" in her fathers church, and her roots are back.Her father and mother are still her managers.Give her a chance folks!

Do we remember back when "Hank Williams" was fired from "The Opry"? For what reason?....anybody still know???
Has there been anyone "fired" lately? No....because the new talent wants to make it and I hope that they all will.

I defintely prefer Bobby Flores, Jake Hooker, Amber Digby.

I also think the song wasn't the best,
I disagree that Jessica doesn't have a fine voice.
It was not showcased well on this song at all.

I've heard her on other things she can sing her shorts off.
I hated the style, now she may likely get closer to better music.

I like cleavage, but not in this context.

I think she is angling for a musical genre with a longer shelf life.
Get her with a GOOD country producer and she has
the potential of some great albums.
She has the talent, just not the firm direction.
She just switched over and is just hitting stride.

Imagine her being produced by some of the Texas crew.

I never liked Jessica's singing.......BUT.....I bought her CD this afternoon because I wanted to hear the whole project.

My judgment was way to soon about Jessica.This CD is a fine piece of art.Nothing wrong with it.
I still don't like her singing but I will say this....with the right songs, manager and record company...this girl will go very very far.
She CAN sing....that's for sure.

I don't think that personal preferences in music has anything to do whether a singer can perform or not.Not only that but think about this."Mr.Biceps" (as you call him) is on tv....you and I are sitting in front of it.Do I hear a tad of jealousy?

yeah, at 60 years old i'm really jealous that i can't get a gig as a photogenic hunk in a big $$ tabloid friendly endeavor.

As for biceps and boobs, looking good ain't bad
well if you got em flaunt em.

Biceps on GOO ain't an issue,
maybe a triffle less cleavage for a family show,
but then again she showed more on Dukes of Hazard.

Ron I am glad you checked out her album.
I have heard a bunch of cuts from her in the past
and seen some tv shows on her, she has the goods,
and has since early on. A huge vocal range and
on pitch live more than many these days.
I am happy she IS moving to a less idiotic genre of music.
One she can age into gracefully and still have a fan base and enjoy herself.

I want her with T. Bone Burnett for 2 albums,

1 or 2 with Justin Trevino producing
Justin would not think how she looks, but just how she sounds.
Plus he deserves the wider recognition it would bring him,
and duet together would be killer...

‘Mutt’ Lange would also be a great match in the modern country vein.

Rick Rubin and Lloyd Maines also come to mind.

If she can get ANY of these pros with her existing chops, financial resources and
face time / market segment exposure,
let THEM pick the songs and they make an environment for her voice.
She has the potential for some classics.

Even if NONE of them sound like Dottie West or Lorreta.
But I CAN see Lorreta doing a duet with Jessica on GOO
with a BIG smile on her face too.
And I think Jessica would like that too.

‘Mutt’ Lange would also be a great match in the modern country vein.

He's kinda underemployed now too, since Shania took a powder... imagine being married to SHANIA TWAIN, and yer out boinkin' the hired help, go figure.

ok..last dangerous post from me. i think she's cute, sings better than many money makers, style of songs is no worse than many.

however...if you saw letterman trying to talk to her, she seems shallowly dumber than a rock. most of the artists i enjoy sing as if they have something to say. many that i have met actually carry on engaging conversations. a singers character and soul come through their performance. i always feel merle actually feels what he writes and sings about.

certain artists have substance. some are just fluff. what you enjoy is up to you!

Anyway, Jessica is very pretty, sings fairly well; steel player was OK - could hardly hear 'um, and what he played was OK.

Now, I'm gonna get some cookies and milk and hit the hay.

I listened to the entire CD on Rhapsody today, I usually listen to the Tuesday releases on the following weekend.

This is a very good, better than average CD, of the 11 songs I can honestly say I really like 10 of them . The title track, Do You Know , with Dolly Parton who wrote it , is quite nice.

Perhaps many are thinking dumb blonde, no talent. Well, this CD is filled with some pretty good vocals and if you didn't know it was JS you would have never guessed it was her in a million years. Other female artists will be hard pressed to have a new CD this consistent with good songs and an excellent production with a good blend of instruments on the tracks.

Not real Country ? I dunno and I guess I don't really care. I like it , Country, Western, not real, real, Rock, Roll, Blues , jazz, modern, old, in between..all of it. This is a good CD in my book.

And , JS is NOT my sister !

In spite of being built like the proverbial BSH,
she has always come across as a good girl,
a very sexy, but good girl. Her roots are gospel
and that is mostly country. She did a detour into
dance pop cause daddy said 'do it', she made a
serious pile o cash doing it, and honed a level of
professionalism you can not ignore.
And a name value you can't beat.
She has a large vocal range, sings on key,
doesn't drink to excess or drug out, and
doesn't fall off stages or insult her fan base.

And she has a huge loyal fan base of young girls
who knew her before, but who just might now
become country fans and love steel guitar
because they grew up with her and now join
Jessica in her career transition.
That is something to cheer about for sure...

Get her with some real pro country producers
and she will surprise most of you.

The opry needs to be shut down at Music Valley Drive and moved back to the Ryman where the music belongs. The current Opry manager has in the time he's been there really killed Country Music and Ed Gaylord should be run out of town with him. Country Music is lots of things but none of which we are seeing today. I worked on the Country Music USA Show at Opryland USA for 2 seasons and left after 6 or 7 years and got out of town just as the Country Music was leaving also. You guys need to start thinking with the other head and lets see more Daryle Singletarys and Dale Watsons in the mix. Next time you come into Nashville on Interstate 24/40/65 look for the sign that says "Welcome To Davidson County" "Home Of The Grand Old Opry" cause before long Ed Gaylord will have it saying "Welcome To Davidson County" Home of the Tnnessee Titans".
