My other hobbies include video games-I love to put in a good driving simulator(Test Drive Unlimited 2) into my PlayStation 3 and pretend I'm drivin' a '57 Chevrolet Corvette through Ibiza, Spain and Oahu, Hawaii, and I love to play a few rounds of Wheel of Fortune on my Nintendo Wii. In Pickens, SC, we got classic car cruise-ins and I love goin to a cruise-in to see my favorite classic cars up close. I also love golf carts too, and I love being near the beach, going to Dollywood-my favorite themepark and just ridin' in a car. I like to watch Wheel of Fortune and CMT Insider too and although I'm a country steel player, I love '50s, '60s, '70s, and '80s music.

I'm a politics junkie used to be extremely active in my local Democratic club. These days I'm too busy. I was actually asked once to run for office, but I declined. (I don't want all my youthful indiscretions made public.)
Ultimately music is more important. Politicians come and go, but music lasts forever.

I've been getting back into drawing - architecture and cartooning, mostly. I used to buy, repair, sell and trade fountain pens... they're awfully little for working on anymore with my 53 year-old eyes, even with the Optivisors. I've built, assembled & modified my own six-strings and basses for a few decades now. I used to write a lot, but now that I have to for money, the recreational fiction is tapering off... everything's better as a cartoon anyway!

On May 3 2011 I took a leisurly trip down the Englishtown drag strip. It was a reenactment of July 4th 1965 when I actually raced in a similar car. My friend and I were the first two cars to go down the track on their grand opening day. Things sure have changed since then. Now I sit in a lawn chair behind my car at cruise nights.

I fly dual line stunt/sport kites. It's thrilling to feel the kite pull as it performs its aerial ballet (or its nose dive into the ground).
A kite with a 7 or 8 foot wingspan is quite an attention getter too. I also like to read and guzzle cheap wine.
<--- and play with my girlfriend over here.

I play in pit orchestras for local musical theatre (guitar, banjo, whatever) and sometimes act on stage.
I officiate high school sports: Football, wrestling, lacrosse.
I repair and/or build guitars and other fretted instruments. My avatar is my "headstock decal".

Model and full scale aviation have been a lifelong hobby interest. I'm currently working on a WW2 Fiesler Storch 3/4 size homebuilt. I also enjoy fly fishing, especially for lunker trout.

My favorite thing is flying. I currently own a Yak 52. If you want to do something that is absolutely the ultimate hobbie, buy and learn to fly an airplane. Remember what I am fixing to say......"He who dies with the most toys wins!"

Yes, and if the toy doesn't get you, the wife surely will! I feel a new song coming on.

Same as Joachim. In addition, railroad history (the era of steam and early electric locomotives). I'd love to build me a model train layout but don't have enough room. My place is too cluttered with musical instruments...

I have 160 acres of great farm land to hunt and I use a Stryker 405 fps cross bow and rifle for deer hunting. I also hunt predators to keep the wildlife balance in good order. Have lot of turkey also. Like to fish and ride my Kawasaki mule thru the timber and ravines on my land. Lift weights 3 times a week a good hour and walk 30 minutes a day to keep this nearly 78 yr old body in shape. Have a cold beer or shot of bourbon occasionally to stay healthy. Jack

Joerg,
I can't believe you don't have room for an "N" gauge layout. The engines and cars are only 10 cm long.

Hey Mike (Archer), I see you like to build and fly RC airplanes. That is neat! I used to try to fly them, 3 axis, never got too good at 4 axis (ailerons). My hobbies are my latest muscle car, a 1970 Dodge Dart Swinger with a heck of a built 340 (matching numbers) and coin collecting. But I have to admit, I am addicted to that wonderful instrument called a pedal steel guitar. And yes, I play a Rittenberry, and have since 2007. There are many wonderful guitars out there today, but I just fell in love with the Rittenberry.

That's also true. But N scale engines always looked somewhat too tiny for me, not as impressive to look at as H0... and then I already have a collection of H0 scale engines and cars, some of them quite rare, that I like a lot. I just consider it a project for the future, I will move to a bigger place sooner or later.

I also am an admirer of classic cars and belong to a classic car club and own a real nice 1953 Buick Roadmaster two door hard top. I am fascinated with astronomy and own a 12 1/2 inch reflector telescope and enjoy star gazing. Also fascinated with the scriptures. Steel Guitar rounds things out very nicely.
