Gary, so glad you will be here on the program with us. I keep getting phone calls every time I have a "firm(?) schedule. The way this is developing, we might have to start tomorrow....... Not quite, but almost. lol..So proud of all lthe players who will be here with us.
Jack Goodson just called and I am very pleased that he will be on stage with his fiddle and then be on the steel program also. We will have a fiddle in the band and the Western Swing heard will be much better now. Start time was previously scheduled for noon, but now it will be earlier-10:00 AM so we can get all of the players in...Cant wait to hear Joe Wright again either, and Hank Corwin, Buck Grantham, and more. Hopefully, the schedule will come out nlt Monday.
Gary, currently I have you on the program right after Hal Higgens. you will be on at 12:30. Hope that is ok.
See you soon,
Bill Stafford

DSSG Schedule

Hal-got you covered. Due to popular demand we have to start our program earlier ie 10:00 AM. Hank Corwin will do a "sound check from 10 to 10:30 AM.(Hank's sound checks are worth an opening ceremony anywhere in the world). Then Hal will formerly open this program at 10:30 AM. Hal gives is the very best version of our "National Anthem" than any one I have ever heard-and I have heard the best at all the really big shows. We are blessed with Hal in our midst. Following at the standard 30 min intervals will be Gary Moore, Wilburn Stewart, Royce Tarver, Jim Parker, Bert Courrege, Ivan Reddington, Buck Grantham, DSSG's own Ms Mini Minnie Pearl(Kayla Kelton) will have a five minute program honoring the late Minnie Pearl and then she will introduce JOE WRIGHT. Joe will finish out the three o'clock hour followed by HANK CORWIN at 4:00 PM. Bill Stafford follows Hank, then Billy Carr, Gordon Dodson(shades of Julian Tharp), Scott Perro(classical guitar solo), R.J.Buras and the great Tony Lane(George Morgan band fame). Little JoeAllen & the "Country Elite" band featuring Geneva Ward-vocalist, Herbie Stewart-steel, Roger Evans-drums, Vern Brewer-bass. The DSSG Steel Line Up will finish the program at 9:00 PM. Bob Saxton will be on stage most of the afternoon also-along with Ben O'Dell, Wayne Goff, Ed Clark, Jerry Jaye. ROMEO SULLIVAN, DJ HALL OF FAME MEMBER will be our MASTER OF CEREMONIES. Thanks. All subject to change of course..See you all soon, hopefully, and please let me know if anyone has been accidently left off. Will correct immediately!

Very proud to announce that Jack and Martha Goodson will be coming in from Florida. Jack will have a program slot to play his steel and he will be heard all afternoon on his "fiddle in the band". This is great news for all of us. Thanks Jack and Martha.
Program just keeps getting better all the time.

Looks good as usual. See everybody Saturday around noon. I'll be bringing an 07' S-10D blue Magnum & a late 06' S-12 Extended Fessenden, in case anyones in the market for a almost new guitar, on either. In the future, I'm planning on bringing up to 5 different brand guitars to each show we attend. Getting ready to add two more builders to my steel list, very soon.

Post by Ben ODell »

Well Ya'll,,,, Ole "Benji" been feeling kinda pore'ly lately, but I'm back up and going,,, (SORTA). Ain't gonna win no race, but I'm gonna be there.

My good friend and partner in crime, (Mike Hoover) said he can't make it and I sho-nuff hate that. I was gonna try and talk him into donating that 59 Jazz Bass to the "BEN O'DELL" Museum, (aka) BARN.

Yep,,, another of my hero's won't be able to make it. Barney and Mary, we gonna miss ya'll. I was really looking forward to seeing that new biscuit board of your's.

And I'm still wantin to hear them licks R.J. done and stole over at Billy's the other nite. Through-out all these post R.J., I haven't heard if you gonna bring the gumbo. If you ain't I'm probably gonna have to git Ms Mickey to build me a couple of "RUTABAGA SAMICHES" to bring with me. You know how I develop them honger pains bout mid-day.

What a line up !!!! Billy has done it again !! (AS USUAL), and I'm really looking forward to seeing and hearing you all. Ole Romeo is an unbeatable MC singer "PREMIUM". And Romeo, you hog tie Wayne Gray and tote him down there saturday. You may have to haul him in the trunk, (to avoid looking at him all the way down there). You get him down there and I'll take charge of him, and he and I will go over to the far end of the building and ugly it up while ya'll are pickin.

I'll see ya'll SADDAY..........

P.S..........Buck,,,, I got a sack for you......
NO,,, 2 sacks. You know kinda like that sack of pecans. Can't stand to see you not doin nuttin.

Tomorrow's the day, but our "Friday Nite Frolic" here at home just will not be denied. I did my best not to schedule a fun night tonight, but that wasn't good enough. This night grows all of its own and our house will be full again tonight.
Joe Wright and family arrived last night. Will take them fishing this morning in the Gulf between Biloxi and Gulfport in the used to be village of Mississippi City-long since annexed by Gulfport. There is a new pier rebuilt since the storm that extends quite a ways out in the Gulf of Mexico. We will see how good a feisherman ole Joe is. Might have something extra for the eating table tonight. Proud to say the Goodsons will be here too.
Our music picking friends will start arriving tonight around five pm for a very informal good time.
Had to start our DSSG program tomorrow at 10 AM due to the additional players that wil be here to help us celebrate the beginning of Hurricane Season. We are a week late with this celebration, but with Joe Wright here, we will catch up pretty quick..Topped off by Buck Grantham and Hank Corwin, Clyde Bloodworth,-hopefully, Billy Carr, Hal Higens and the rest of us hanging on and in.
Thanks. See a lot of you soon.

Almost here. We had a great informal time at our Friday Nite Frolic. Joe Wright and Bob Saxton played some unbeleivable music. Lots of food, not much left over either. Thanks to all for this wonderful support to and for DSSG. See you soon.

I agree totally. Bill Stafford and all the guys put on a great show each time on the Gulf Coast. I enjoyed watching and listening to everybody. While all of the players were excellent, in between conversations and selling strings, etc., I got a chance to listen to three players that really sounded good, as everybody did. Gary Moore, Hank Corwin and Jack Goodson really had great execution and tone. Buck Grantham was also in rare form as well, playing a beautiful D-10 Mullen. Jim Parker and his new D-10 Rains sounded the best I've ever heard him play. Tone to the bone and having Doc singing didn't hurt. Doc's SHOW-PRO he had for sale made a lot of us want to take it home. Beautiful guitar. More like a piece of art. All of the backup musicians were great, as well. More later.

Billy Carr, I came in in the middle of your show ..as always you or something else, that was superb playing and great tone. i had to work saturday till 3:00. also i need a couple packs of strings. went by your booth and got distracted by other memebers. however im glad everyone is always glad to see me and me them . so we will get those strings in a few days i will be coming through hattiesburg maybe we can do lunch.

You or right Jack Goodson was dynamite. I got to hear Jack , Gordon and Gary moore before i had to get back to work. those guys lit me up. sorry for the abrupt leaving the guitar show, but duty calls.
