Rick,
It was great to finally meet you in person. I felt that I already knew you somewhat because of the SGF, but having personal conversation with you at various times at the Joliet Convention was a great delight.
Thank you for all the work in posting these pictures and videos bringing the convention to persons that couldn't make it and allowing us to reflect on some of our experiences.
Now everyone can see why I did not make it as a professional steel player. A good thing that I had another profession to fall back on.
Aloha,
Don

Isaac Akuna just became the newest member of the SGF -
Welcome to the Forum Isaac!
Thanks for the info - I like to get everybody's name right, so I appreciate that.
I really enjoyed meeting you and hearing you play.
Don, whaddaya mean? - You played a wonderful set.
Real nice tone and super technique.
If only you sang and told corny jokes, you woulda been a big star!
I enjoyed our conversations too - you were the very first person I talked to when I got there. You invited me to sit at your table in the restaurant and meet everyone, and you made me feel welcome.

Syl's was better. Ask anyone in the know and they will tell you so.BTW.......how was the steak house?.......
Rick says,
Where do I go for voice lessons? I would need a voice box transplant! If only you sang and told corny jokes, you woulda been a big star!
Maybe I could go to Rick A's School of Comedy for my joke telling!
I had a great time at the convention. Hopefully some of these posts will inspire others to get there next year.
Missed you. Howard, maybe you need to fly out of a different airport too, so that you can make it on time.
Aloha,
Don
Thanks so much for posting all these cool videos, Rick. What a fun time - and way cooler than when I attened back in the mid '80s. I may have to give Joliet another try. I can only envy your relaxed stage manner and easy patter Rick and Gerald. I'm a deer in the headlights when I have to play for an audience. BTW, Gerald, I've now got Sugar Moon stuck in my head. Guess it beats having Billy Don't Be a Hero or Alone Again, Naturally rolling around my brain.

Steak House...
It's always a fun and drunken evening going to the steakhouse with the "usual suspects".
But it really doesn't matter if we go out for fine dining or stop at a convenience store for a bag of chips. These guys are lots of laughs anyplace we go.
But now having eaten at both Al's Steakhouse and Syl's. I'll have to say, the food is better at Syl's. It's a bit more expensive, but worth it.
