Thanks
Charles. thanks so very much for posting my efforts on "Lovely Hula Girl". You are to be commended for bringing us all together with this site of yours. Great of you to do this and it is most appreciated.
Thanks for the nice words Al, and Howard I will see you next week end in Laurel and will have your copy waiting. This session was done at Gene Breeden's studio in Nashville and the players he had lined up for me were the best there is in the business. I was amazed with the bass player-15 year old(young in this case) Sam Hunter. He played all the songs on this cd the very first take as did all the other players-Jamie Knowles on piano. Gene Breeden on lead and rythmn guitar, Barry Wayne on drums and a great piano player who was the sound engineer on the board. These guys made it so enjoyable for me and I want to publicly thank them and to highly recommed Gene's studio there in Nashville. And thanks again Charles Tilley for this wonderful opportunity for my song to be here. It is really appreciated.

Hi Guys-I had the time to Download some more tunes form Tilley's Website, thanks to him we can hear all this fine steel playing from our fellow members.
Here is some of the ones I heard. Ray Ayres "Laura" the old classice from the movie Laura around 1948, I used to play that every night back in those days. It is a great tune from long ago. I had my 6 pedal 1942 Gibson.E-Harp.
Jim Cohen-"Icarus" Great Job expanding the possibilities of the Steel Guitar.
Jeff Colson-"Crazy" Fine jobe on that old classic.
Everyone should play this one.
Reggie Duncan-"Gospel Swing",Vern Hester "Sweet Dreams", Savel Norsworthy "You dont know me", Bill Stafford "Lovely Hula Girl" from his Great CD.,Terry Sutton"s Great Rendition of "Song for Sarah" a Great Paul Franklin Tune.
All these songs played so well, and professional sounding recordings. I never would have had the chance to hear all these fine players if it wasn't for Charles Tilley setting up this site. A great idea, and many thanks Tilley. "Unforgettable" as my song says on site now....al.

"Go Rest High" with John Hughey
John plays the second verse and chorus as only John could have done it. He was the master of touch, tone, and emotion in my opinion. This track will long stand as my tribute to him, and how fitting it is to have him playing with me on it.
Thanks for posting it, Charles.

Charles' Fabulous Steel Guitar Web Site
Mike Archer : Again you have won my heart with your " What A Friend ". You do such a grand job on these fine gospel songs. Thanks for sharing it with Charles and his forumites whom love good steel guitar music.
Nike Headrick : Your rendition of " Go Rest High On The Mpuntain " is out-standing. I love the big low deep swells you do on the song. And your ability on using your foot volume pedal, all thru the audio.Mike, Is this song the one that Vince wrote in memory of his brother.? Anyway, it's a beautiful number..
Bobby Bowman I just finished hearing your version of " Last Letter ". Very tasteful and clean picking, to be sure..
I listened to several postings this P.M. and they were all great. Isn't it super we have Charles to thank for giving all of us the chance to hear such great steel guitarists. Many thanks, Charles.. Bernie

Thanks To all Charles's Steel Guitarists

What a better time to extend a million "Thanks " to every one whom has posted a song on Charles's web-site , than at thanksgiving Time. I, for one really appreciate the effort and talent all of you have posted for your fellow Forumites to enjoy. Besides, it saves me a couple of bucks , not having to buy your most recent CD's. But , I must confess, I have accumulated at least 40 new Cd's within the short time I've been a formumite. My favorite spot to sit and listen to a variety of steel players is right here on the " SGF ". Thanks to Mr. Charles for giving us that opportunity.. God Bless..Bernie

Christmas songs in Red
I just downloaded all the Red marked Christmas songs .To me they all sounded like well done , professional recordings. All had good backup music, They all sounded better than BIAB to me,.Was any Biab?
Roy Ayres-Silent Night-just great as usual for him. Nice feeling too.
Duane Becker-Jingle Bell Rock-nice lpicking on that E9th.
Vern Hester-White Christmas-Very good, nice tone too.
Robert Jones-Have yourself a Merry Christmas-Nice
John McGlothlin-It came upon a midnight clear-nice backup and a good dobro sound.
Doug Seymour-I'll have a Blue Christmas without you-
Doug, you old pro, you still got it. Nice chords on
C6.
Roy thomson-I think everyone knows Roy, he plays great on non pedal and gets a fine tone.
Al-The Christmas Song"- With No backup ,reverb, etc. I am out of my league, compared to all the fine recordings I have heard on this site. Thanks to Charles Tilley for making it all possible for us to hear all the players on the Forum. You guys are all GOOD!! And Expert Recordings.
I should get a new amp for a better sound, but I'll be 87 years young on Dec. 10th and a little late for a new amp. Merry Christmas to all...al:):)

Thanks Al. Your song sounds totally fantastic with all those full chords and the tone is perfect. The backup music I used was a midi file but I am able to take the lead instruments out of a midi file with a program called Power Tracks Pro that came from BIAB. You just download any midi file and open it with Power Tracks Pro and you are able to even change the key of the song and you can change the tempo if you like. It will list the separate tracks of each instrument in the midi file and you can remove any of the tracks and just have a good rhythm track.

New song
Tilley just posted my song that I recorded in 1951 on my used 8 string 6 pedal 1942 Gibson ElectraHarp. One of the old Pop and jazz tunes from the Movie "Laura".
I recorded a transcription at a local Radio station direct to the board,no amp, earphones. Was on a Wax disc, no digital in those days. I did 8 tunes on it, this was one of them. My where did the time go, that was 57 long years ago.
Thank you Tilley for allowing us to play on your webstie. I have heard some great players on it that I never would have heard. Thanks again...Happy New Year to you and all the Forum members..al.
