I'm excited about getting mine. I got in on Doug's list just as he was closing his books to catch up his orders. He said it would be around December or January. I can't wait.

Congrats, it will be worth the wait!

I bought Bruce Zumsteg's book right after I placed my order. After having read the book 4 times, I'm glad I ordered the Encore.

If anyone hasn't read Bruce's book, I highly recommend it.

How does one go about acquiring this book? It'd be great to read the backstory for the designer of my Steel.

That's great Brian. I was going to post today and ask if someone would post close-up pics of their Encore. Looking forward to seeing yours.
Congratulations

Thanks Karl. Here's a question. What other options are available for the Encore besides a 4th pedal, color, pickups and arm pad?

Are different position markers available? anything else? I didn't want to contact Doug for these questions, I know he's busy.

I told Doug what I wanted, I'm sure he'll contact me when he's ready to build mine.
Thanks

No one in the audience is going to go 'you know what was the one thing missing from that band? They didn't have shiny polished plates on their pedal steel'.

Here are a bunch of close up pictures of my new Encore. Sorry it took a few days...I've been struggling with being very sick lately. Fantastic PSG!!! Love it!

Hey John. I'm not sure if you are asking me a question or giving me advice... but anyhow, the wound strings on my encore appear to be nickle wound and definitely not bronze like an acoustic guitar.

Hey Mike...Yes I really like the look. Doug did an amazing job, as is the case for every stage one and Encore I have seen pics of. Fantastic PSG's with amazing tone. I'm very pleased with mine.

Almost forgot...I also got Doug's volume pedal. It works great and it has a nice low profile, has a high tech dunlop potentiometer, and it looks great too.

Regarding whether the wound strings were nickel
John Sluszny wrote:Thank you Brian,

John:
I just bought some spare strings from livesteel and they sell both nickel and steel wound strings. Doug confirmed with me via email that I should get the "steel" wound strings. He did not mention if nickel would be ok... but i guese the steel wound strings are what are recommended on the Encore. Sorry if this caused any confusion.

Thank you again Brian ! Too bad I got so many spare nickel wound strings !

I don't think it's a big deal though. Perhaps Doug suggests steel versus nickel because steel lasts longer. Many people simply prefer the tone of nickel more though...but the nickels do not last as long. They will both work fine.
Below is a link to a forum topic between steel versus nickel strings:
