My latest Old Standard is "Magic Is The Moonlight".
However, this song started out in 1929 as a Spanish song called: "Te Quiero Dijiste".
It was written by Maria Grever . It was recorded by several different artist under that title but in 1959 Charles Pasquale wrote English lyrics to the song and the title changed to "Magic Is The Moonlight".
Since then it has been recorded by several different artists including Santo & Johnny in 1965. :D

Old Standards for E9th

Post by Gloria Baldwin »

Hi Erv,

Would you be able to send me some Hawaiian backing tracks for some songs? how much do they cost? I think this is a wonderful thing you are doing to preserve such beautiful music for a beautiful instrument.

There is a beautiful song by Charly McClain called DANCING YOUR MEMORY AWAY. Would you be able to make a tab for that song. I think it would be an awesome steel tune.

What is your PayPal address and what is this the ordering procedure?

Thank you,
Gloria

My latest Old Standard is "Wish You Were Here".
This song is a Pink Floyd number and was written by Roger Waters and David Gilmour in approx. 1975.
It dealt with the mental breakdown of former bandmate, Syd Barrett.
The master tape of the original recording included an entire performance of pedal steel guitar and electric guitar solos, however they were eliminated in the final mix. :D

There was some interest in this song by fellow steelers so I got busy and tabbed out "God Only Knows".
This song was written by Brian Wilson of Beach Boys fame in 1966 and I think I came pretty close to its sounding right. :D

I just finished up an Old Standard from the Do-Wop era.
The song is "Daddy's Home".
It was written by James Sheppard and William H. Miller in 1961 and recorded by a group called Shep and The Limelites, Shep was James Sheppard.
It was on Hull Records and published by Keel Music.

However, a few years prior, a song was written by Sheppard and published by Kahl music called "A Thousand Miles Away". The group that recorded this song was The Heartbeats and Sheppard was the lead singer.

There was so much similarity between the two songs that Kahl music sued Keel music for copyright violation and won. This resulted in the end of The Limelites and Hull Records.

I had a request for my latest Old Standard: "There Will Never Be Another You".
It was written in 1942 by Mack Gordon & Harry Warren.

When I played this song for my billy goat, it resulted in a severe case of depression.
