I am an Electro-Mechanical Tech for a very large bearing manufacturer. I get to play with robots when I go to work. Sometimes it is a dirty job, but it is very rewarding ($$$$)

I know what the robots do when the lights go out!!!

Worked in state government for many years, now an employee of Kroger Co. Glad to be working in this depressed Michigan economy. Currently starting a publishing company (Twin Vines Publishing) to promote books on CD that I've written and will write in the future.

I was a Meat Cutter for just under 11 years. I gave up that wonderful & short career to pursue a job with better benefits and a retirement package. So, I went to work for the BNSF Railway as a bridge worker. Now I get to play with one of the largest train sets in the world.

I spent 4 years in the USAF as a Med Serv Spec (902). Man, I love military abbreviations.
After I left Uncle Sugar, I worked as a janitor, printing pressman (AB Dick 360 offset), VA file clerk, and a hospital orderly.
I graduated from nursing school (RN) in 1986. I worked in a hospital for a while but for the last 20 years I've been doing home health care.

well since my last post several years back I have finally retired, 3 months ago @66.

Probably busier now than before ! I'm working on 3 different CD projects at the house on my small Pro Tools studio, with 3 different local clients , I have finally published a handful of songs and sent them up to CD Baby, probably have a dozen more to go... I am just about finished restoring a 75 Sho Bud Pro III, I took on 3 regular Country gigs each month , I help my wife with her business, I do the chores, cut the grass..and I am back to practicing Steel at least twice a day for at least 30 min each session..

Believe it or not, my internet time is way down compared to when I was actively working. Thats a good thing !

AND I take a siesta every afternoon :)

Congrats, Tony, on retiring!

I am a boat captain. I take a bunch of tourists every day from St John in the US Virgin Islands to Virgin Gorda or Jost Van Dyke in the British Virgin Islands. So I get to deal with two sets of custom and immigration officials every day - which takes the shine off of paradise very quickly!

As little as possible? I spent 20 years as cook/chef/kitchen manager/caterer, HORRIBLE idea. Long hours are the only way to get anywhere, but "anywhere" usually consists of being promoted over your soon-to-be-ex-friends and quite explicitly told that figuring out how to screw them out of their breaks (labor costs) and cheat your customers (food costs) is now your road to a raise. I liked cooking.... I now eke out some boilerplate writing to keep the lights on. I've "accepted money to play", but have had some very weird experiences where the pursuit of money assassinated the joy of playing. Miami is FULL of natty dreadlock rasta mons from... Detroit, Scranton, Wisconsin, but I could never smoke enough pot to become "good" at reggae bass. I still have a few gigging friends who throw their stuff in the closet Sunday morning and dig it out Friday afternoon. They NEVER want to hear anything new, it's not pleasurable(!) Years pursuing the available mercenary ruts (& age) wetvac'd the love of music right out of them.

Retired from a railroad career which spanned 44+ years start to finish. I enjoy reading the "Stories" forum on here, some of the stuff that went on at gigs back 30 or 40 years ago is fantastic. And I could do the same on railroading - runaways, wrecks, drunks, loose women.....and I'm not sure whether music or railroading draws more "odd characters" but we sure had our share!

I am retired from radiology and worked the Seattle area hospitals mostly with ER and surgery patients.
Now I am retired and spend my time in internet forums pretending I know everything about everything.
So far it seems to be working. :P
