Zb 0034

I've got 0034, bought from Don Edwards in Lakewood, Colorado (Guitar City) around 1980 or 81, do not who the original owner was, as didn't think to ask at the time, but Don would have known, as he kept meticulous records unfortunately, he has passed on. Ronnie Miller was still hanging around, playing at Club Corners, Michael Russo was teaching pedal steel, Rusty Young and Ronnie were the previous teachers. I just cleaned the old girl up after about 30 years of neglect, now that I'm retired, hope to spend more time with her.

Is that #0034 or #1034? Don Edwards originally owned #0033 also. Sonny Curtis owned #1034.

I just weighed 0317, and it weighs 65# in the case also, not really as heavy as i thought it to be.

I thought it was heavier too. Feels like at least 75# when going up stairs with it. Must be old age?

Split cases are the answer.

Kevin, are your split cases for a D-10 ZB running around $350? I think I might save up and purchase them if I end up holding unto my D-10.

Can someone point me to or share some photos of the RKR lever linkages and mechanisms on a ZB? Mostly interested in seeing the way it works for string 2.
Thanks,
Brad

Just a heads up to the ZB faithful that fellow ZB brother Chuck MCGill has passed away. So sad to hear. I bought a few ZB's from Chuck and we talked on the phone. He will be missed.

I am very saddened to hear this. Although I did not know him well, he was a kind man when we spoke and he left an impression on me. These old hunks of wood are important and those that dedicate themselves to bringing them to their potential are saints in my book.

Does anyone know when #0098 was built? I'm guessing 1969...
Sad to hear about Chuck. I think I have one of his old guitars....

I think you are on the money with 1969.
Looks like Billy Knowles did this one and Duncan owned it.

Actually, I believe that my ZB is 0093, or 0127( I have owned both numbers at one time), but I am in South Carolina at the moment and can't turn it over and check the true serial number. In any event, mine is a 1969, the same year as Jerry Garcia's, but it was made with Tom Brumley parts. I believe that Jerry's was assembled by Mr. Brumley out of Scranton parts.
You all have a beautiful evening,
Duncan

Here is # 0104. It was setup Day, and has the necks reversed with the E9th on the rear. It was originally turquoise with a natural maple top, but has evenly faded. Was this one built around 1969-70?

Yes. Late 69 early 70. Most likely 69.

Thanks Kevin, I appreciate your knowledge! This particular guitar sounds fantastic, I've never played one that has this fine of a tone.

I have just got this customised ZB Student and had a problem with the 4th string lowering to pitch thought I had sorted it but it`s doing it again, it looks like the raise on the forth string is starting to move when the lower is engaged, never had this problem before, has anyone had this problem? Any help on this problem would be very much appreciated. Thanks.
Jimmy..
