Gene Haught
Gene, I hope this finds you in good health. If you are, I want every one who asked you a question to send you $5.00 to pay your way to the steel guitar convention. You certainly deserve it. Thanks Ray I haven't ask yet about my S-12.

If or until Gene gets back, I've taken the liberty of putting the number he's given us in chronological order. By estimating how many were being built at the period that contains your numbers, you should be able to at least get into the ball park of when your Sho-bud was built.

The professional
Hi Gene: I think you opened a big can of worms, I also have a Sho Bud D 10 The Professional that I Traded in from a guy on some boat work that I did for him about 12 years ago. This guitar had the old rack system with the brass barrel tuners, it was one of the older ones that sounded like a thrashing machine when you got the pedals and levers going !! I totally gutted it and made a state of the art pedal steel out of it. I put a new style triple raise and lower changer that you can also split tune in it utilizing the original casting, put all new square shafts in it with close to emmons style bell cranks in and all new levers etc, Kind of like a street rod new generation mechanics with the original body and pickups to retain the original wonderful sound quality and look, the only one like it. Any way I was always under the assumption that it was built around 1970 ?? The serial number that is stamped on the end plate and also the wood body is 7855 and also on the end plate is stamped 1-A-3 Any info. that you could give me will be greatly appreciated, Keep up the good work. Thanks

Here's my Super Pro S/N 13388.Build date June 1978.I bought it about ten years later from the first owner, who bought it at Don Edwards Guitar City in Lakewood,CO. She had the lesson before me,so I remembered her.If anyone wants to enter its info into a database, please feel free.

That's awsome Gene, THANK YOU!!
I've been trying to keep track of the numbers that have been posted and extrapolating dates from around those that you responded to some time ago.
Alain-Yves Pigeon and I maintain a spreadsheet on the "cloud", that we both can access, and continually update and, as I said, extrapolate the dates from.
I've tried to keep that ball rolling in your absence and respond to all inquiries to provide a date that may be +/- a month but I believe that I've gotten fairly close.
Alain-Yves and I will parse the spreadsheet and enter this new information.
I know that the inquiries can be time consuming and I really appreciate you posting this.
Michael
