I can play more instruments badly than Paul McCartney

I play a little bit of keyboards with one hand, but not as much as the pedal steel guitar. I used to strum a guitar, but now my main instrument is the pedal steel. Brett, Emmons S-10, Morrell lapsteel, GFI Ultra D-10-aka "Redgold Beauty"

Before my hand injury, I played guitar, bass (electric and upright), mando, uke, dobro, lap steel, banjo and dulcimer. Those I could all "play". I could fake a little fiddle and keyboard stuff.

Now it's pedal/lap steel, dobro and keys. The others I can play, but only for 15 minutes at a time before it hurts too darned much.

Jim,

What did you do to your hand?

I'm percolating on percodan, chugging codeine cocktails, and munching motrin macaroni from simply bending a left-hand finger back while pulling down one of my socks. And now my right arm aches so darn much from doing everything with my right hand that I can't even open the box with a new guitar in it.

Some I'm interested in how people treat hand injuries--what works and whay doesn't. I think it was Gene Jones who suggested that I try cortisone shots. I hadn't even heard of that.
