My steel use to sit at the kitchen table.The amp was in the corner. "My" end of the table was always cluttered with a casette player and many tapes. But my wife never complained. 3 or 4 years ago, I closed in my carport (12'x16') and now my 3 steels and equ. stay in there. My wife likes to hear me play and hated the idea. She said "Now I Won't get to hear you play and will NEVER see you!" ha/ha

There are three in my living room. Can you tell I'm single?

Mine is in my "music/computer/photography room" which I affectionately call my "playroom". It is filled with guitars amps cameras and the 'puter.

And the case/seat holds cables, effects, tubes, repair equipment, extension cords, etc.

we have a 3 bedroom house and since the kids got grown and moved away , my wife has a sewing room and i have my steel room...don't know what we will do if the kids want to come home and spend the night

Not in the Mid East.

In my living room right in front of the fire place. So if I'm not playing it I can stare at it.

Well it use to sit here in the trailer.The cold air that leaked around the window pane's really caused my cables on my multichord to expand and retract.

Then I won the the lottery (married a rich but ugly woman)now the multichord resides on the 2nd floor.I have the butler oil the cables daily and I monitor the tempetature for a perfect 72 degree's.

There's a story about the steel guitarist who won $20,000,000 on the national lottery, and was asked if it would change his lifestyle.

"No," he replied, "I'll just keep playing the steel guitar until it's all gone..."

Alan I cant lie it has changed me,people use to tell me I was a horrible steel player,but now I hire people to sit in front of me while I play my steel and cheer and clap and tell me how great of a steel player Iam,I even pay one of them a little extra to compare my playing to that of Buddy Emmons.So I would say the money has increased my confidence.
(Disclaimer:I did'nt really win the lottery and Iam not really rich,but I did stay at a Holiday Inn express last night)

Wade: If you have money to spare you can pay me to come and watch you play anytime. I guarantee an enthusiastic response. In fact I'll even bring along a tape recorder and an applause loop track.

Well, I've made progress. I began with about 1/6th of the grandkids' playroom (with crib) and am now up to almost 1/3rd. I am divorced, so I set it anywhere I please.

In the small spare bedroom with the lovely Miss Cashdollar only a mouse click away on my left if I need helping out!!!

Clyde... you've hit the nail on the head !

My wife says that my steel-guitar equipment has bought so many groceries and made so many car payments etc during our lifetime that it can sit in the middle of the living room or anywhere else "it wants to". My steel will never be "dissed" at my house.

Fortunately, however, I do share an area in my wife's sewing/computer room where I keep all of my gear set up and ready to play!

When we moved to Duluth, the house we chose had a perfect room (about 16'x35') for my steel, I told (begged) my wife if she wanted this house, I get the "music room". Done deal. I think so far from the pictures posted, I've got the most cluttered.

Well, I would like a gig like Wade's, I lived the first part, I 'm ready for the second move, to THE BIG HOUSE! Notice I didn't say to THE WHITE HOUSE.

John you got three children in your living room, I do too, they keep me pretty busy.

Serously, I keep my steel close at hand but seldom get to touch it. It takes alot of naps/rest time in the backroom. My little two year old, he really likes to fool around with it, maybe he will teach me a few licks in a few years. He figured out you had to wear the thumb and finger picks and hold the bar by the time he was one and half years old. Go Figure that!

It was in the basement rec-room for a long spell but now it is moved between my bedroom to the living room. On occasion, it sits on the sundeck and the neighbours along the block come over to listen to or join in on our rag tag jam sessions. (I had to lay the law down to a jammer friend who would setup his Peavey JSX amp when jamming outdoors.)

Usually right in front of me, as often as possible.

Built a little building out back, which is my space. Got everything I need and even keep my harley in there.
