Yes you are right I got the names mixed up but then no one has ever accused me of been smart I also remember when Buddy Emmons was at your place and went to the Angel Buddy ackers would not let anyone touch his guitar fow two weeks LOL Oh they were great times

And I see you live in Pincourt, I worked at the RCA Aerospace facility in Ste. Anne de Bellevue which I believe it's now Spar. Do you just by chance know an Ed Eaves, or Eves??? Geo

Hello everyone. I am the person who started this thread, and I think it is fascinating how this simple question opened a flood-gate of memories.
While some may call this turn of events "high-jacking", I am delighted with how the mention of a name brings out stories about a time and a region.
Oh - and you did furnish me with a great deal of information about my original subject.

I found this a really refreshing thread as well. It turns out that steel guitar has quite an interesting history in Quebec and that is something that I was unaware of until now. Way out here in the Gaspe it is largely an unknown instrument and as a steel player I am a community of one. I often wonder how much more advanced I would be if I hadn't learned to play this instrument in a vacuum.

Worked with Buddy Ackers back in the 80s in Anglesea, North Wales, very nice steelie, nice touch, not herd of him for 24yr's nice to know he's still out there, and folks still remember him, and that Dekley,nice feel to it, only ever seen one in England and a friend off mine has it. Regards,Slim.

I met with Buddy Ackers today for a little while. He doesn't have a computer and I printed all of the well wishes from everyone off for him. He was very pleased and honored to have his steel buddies send him a note. He is feeling a little stronger but he has a ways to go before he can get behind a PSG.

I will stay in touch with him. He gave me a couple of his LP's that he cut in Montreal and I put them both on CD's with my new recorder. That brightened up his day.

I last saw Buddy Ackers at the British Steel Guitar Convention in the mid 80's when I lived in Manchester. I always admired his playing.

Montréal was indeed crawling with great steel players. I lived in Montréal from 1989 to 1991. I have fond memories of the Blue Angel. It was a great place to meet musicians and hang out. Regards Bob
