Great Post, Ed,
And I guess I would record "He', "I ask the Lord", and Sandy Patti's version of "How Majestic is He's Name". Now, That one by Sandy is NO EASY ONE by ANY MEANS. Goodness, I have "Charted" that one, and it took about a week to do it. Now, for me to PLAY it? Ha, now that's a different story all together.
I have the "Performance Track" Tape, where on one side, She sings the #, and on the other, you have the music track only. Sheesh...I might do better if I tried playing "Pick it Apart" by Mr. Paul.

I've played a non-pedal (Remington D-8) version of "Sweet Sweet Spirit" and "Make Me a Servant" recently in Church. Had a low volume organ playing backup chords...very nice effect.

Were you there When they Crucified My Lord, and Softly and Tenderly, I wonder if David used a bar when playing his harp....hey, it could have happened, like...if...hey, if these stones don't take the giant down, this bar should give him lump on the noggin

Not trying to be disrespectful, but one friend called and said "How about STEAL AWAY"? I thought it was humorus and could be a C D title. Using a play on words STEEL AWAY.. A song my grandfather played was .Will There BE Any Stars In My Crown. I sincerely believe there is a limited market for STEEL Gospel music. ED

Ron Lashley, Sr did a gospel album and I think it was called, "Steel Away with Jesus".
As far as market goes, I did an album a few years back and have ordered about 600 of them.
Gave away quite a few. Of course, I have never pushed them very hard. At least not to steel players!
I remember a little kid looking over our product table. As I watched, he picked up my cassette and read the song list. He replaced it and picked up another, reading the song list. He continued to go back to mine and look again. I was compelled to walk up to him and meet him. I did. I asked him did he like steel guitar and he said "Yes Sir". I asked him if he would like to have my cassette, and he said "I can't...don't have any money....just looking" You bet I gave him one!

I heard an old tune by John Starnes
last week, he used to be on Jimmy
Swaggarts TV program. The song is
"The Galleian" I'm working on it when
I can. Great ballad.

"God walks the dark hills".
Although I know I could never play it with the same passion that Vestal Goodman could achieve when she sang it!

Billy Phelps did WHEN HE WAS ON THE CROSS on one of his CD's and I thought that was one of the most thought provoking songs I ever heard. I would probably record it and only hope to touch the feeling Billy put into it.

I enjoy playing gospel songs and hymns and the more challenging the chord sequence the better. Here are some that lay out just beautifully on E9th with 3 pedals and 5 knees, and I would not hesitate to record any or all of them:
"It is Well With My Soul".
"Where the Roses Never Fade".
"Until Then" (Stuart Hamblen's song).
"How Great Thou Art".
"Great Is Thy Faithfulness".
"Under His Wings".
"Zion's Hill".
"Have You Any Room for Jesus".
"Jesus, Rose of Sharon".
"He Leadeth Me"
"When Morning Guilds the Skies".
"The City Four-Square".
"The Mystery of His Way" (Bob Nolan's song).
"Beyond The Sunset".
"Beautiful Isle of Somewhere".
"Abide With Me".
"Sweeter As the Years Go By"
"In The Garden".
"Each Step I Take"
"Precious Memories" but I like to pay this one kinda more in the style of "Lily Dale".
"There's Something About That Name".
"His Name Is Wonderful".
"God Will Take Care of You".
"Search Me O God" (Same thing as the Maori tune "Now is The Hour").
and of course "Ten Thousand Years".
