Calvin,
5 months is a short time to be wanting
to give up. Find a few simple licks
and play them over & over till you are
ready to move on to something harder.
5 months??
Reminds me of The Honeymooners episode
where Ralph Kramden was trying to learn
how to play golf. He told Norton,
"I can't learn to play golf overnight,
it'll take me at least a week !"
Well, pedal steel may take a bit longer
but it sure is worth it.
Good Luck and don't ever stop!!!!

You may say you're gonna give up, you may dispair that your tone just ain't there yet, but, EVERYTIME YOU HEAR A GOOD STEEL LICK YOU'RE GONNA WANNA PUT ON THEM PICKS AND PICK UP THAT BAR AND KEEP GOIN'!!!!
Hang in there, & don't be in a hurry. Heck, Jeff Newman's 1977 course took a year to get thru...

Emmons SD-10, Dekley S10, Nashville 400, sore right hand due to aformentioned course lesson 1...
[This message was edited by Ray Minich on 11 November 2003 at 06:34 PM.]

I suggest those just starting out use an SD-10, something with a nice pad on the back. That way when you pass out from too many hours at the steel or too many brewskies while practicing you won't wake up with all those lines across your forehead.
