Andy's got it. Granted, I've known you for about 25 years, but I think your posts are just as important as anybody else's here, (sometimes, more so.) I enjoy reading them and don't think you should leave, (well maybe while you're in the hospital...maybe... but, that's it...)
Best of luck on your surgery. Please keep me updated! Ernie@buddyemmons.com

Mike...are you sure you wanna do that???
Being a famous player, you're leaving would hurt a lot of FORUM members.
Being a businessman, you're leaving would only hurt yourself.
Now, as Ricky Ricardo would say..."You wanna 'splain the up-side of this decision?"
We all fight, and disagree from time to time. I've been "dressed down and disagreed to" by the worst...and the best, but I've decided to stay. Many decades ago, while in a college philosophy class, one thing (and probably the ONLY thing) that I read stuck with me. It was a quote by one of the world's most famous generals and statesmen...

Mike,
My prayers, hopes and wishes to you for a successfull operation and a speedy recovery. Take it easy and get well. When you're feeling better, perhaps you'll pop back in here and join back into the conversations. Sometimes you just gotta ignore the boneheads amongst us. Hope my concern for Billy Jenkins did not contribute to your decision. If so, I'm sorry.
Regards,
HH

Good luck with your surgery..I had some similer a few years back..and ,sorry to say, I'm still kickin'.But all of our thoughts and prayers are with you...and we welcom and appreciate all of you experience and wisdom. You're there in the trenches day in and day out and know a lot more than a lot of us out here in Steel Guitar land. Mike..you've got a lot of freinds out here in cyberspace. Take a break and navigate back.

Mike,
Re-read the above GrouchyVet post. He said exactly what i also feel. (except that I didn't have surgery, and I'm glad he's OK)
Let me add that, to me, you were the highlight of the main stage performers at the 99 ISGC. Those old Standells you lugged onto stage had the best tone of the weekend. Of course you had a lot to do with that.
Best regards,

So, b0b, what happens when someone "quits" the Forum? Do you delete their account, put a block on any further posts, send the Internet Police to their house to permamently delete any links to the Forum from their computer? Is their user name/password up for grabs? Can I be Mike Cass now? Ha ha!
Sorry to see Mike go, he's a real loss to the Forum.
But I'm cool, I can call him or see him in person any time.
When some of these weekend warrior/day job-working nematodes want to argue with him or Sweeney or Robbins about some steel guitar-related issue based on something they might have overheard in a bar in BF, Egypt and the aforementioned players are actual professional Nashville musicians rubbing picks with Lloyd, Buddy, Weldon, et al. it gets a little annoying. I see Mike's point.
Email copy to Mike.

Mike Weirauch you're confused... you live 6 miles east of BF, Illinois. I spent three weeks there one day. (It was actually closer to Paducah, KY, but will suffice...)

bob - No particular nematodes or posts, it's just that Cass and Sweeney and maybe Robbins, too, since they've been online here, have been subjected to various and assorted flames, claims, dispersions and assertions by some members of our little community who might possibly make the Forum more enjoyable and instructive by reading more and typing less and not running off the few professional steel players who post, or used to post, here.
Mike - Ah, so that's where it is. I couldn't remember; they had to carry me out to the bus after the gig. It was a drag waking up in the bin next to my steel guitar.

Cal, I appriciate your attitude but I think you're beating a dead horse. I personally don't hold a grudge I just don't post as much as I used to. Many times I could have answered questions truthfully and helped someone but I didn't. Hell most of these guys think if you aren't working the Opry, or on the road with the newest bellybutton or hat act or on the majority of the c.d.s coming out of Nashville you aren't a professional musician. I thought that since I made all my income from setting my country and western ass down behind my guitar I was a professional but I guess I was wrong. I have been called everything from rude and arrogant to a biggot. Hell Cal you've known me alot of years and I figured you would tell if I was. I thought I was just honest. I'm not going to leave the forum because of getting flamed I find this place a good form of entertainment. But again thanks for taking up for me. Come over to the Palace and see me sometime. Mike Sweeney
Mike Case, we as a humble forum family do love cherish your inputand hope you stay with us.I wish you the very best with your operation.I sure hope that Bobbei Seamore,or is it Sealess?Well, anyway I hope Bobbie do'nt become one of them Nashvill professional's.I'd hate to see him leave.Yeap Mike Weirauch live's in BF Ilinowse. Is that in the U.S.A.If that ai'nt spelled right blame it on Bobbie Seamore.I took spelling lessons from him.MR Mike Case get you some rest then come on back in the ring and box alittle more.Hell it ai'nt nothing but entertainment anyway. And you can meet some of the most interesting people on this thing.Who know's you might even get to meet me someday

Mike Sweeney,
You actually get paid at the NP?..I thought taht was just you're hoppy and did it out of the goodness of you're heart..!!!!!All joking aside...Mike Sweeny is one of the greatest guys and PICKER! around...(Now I've paid you back for that fantastic FREE gig you and Brian did last Feb)....No ..Mike is right ..Some of the great musicians don't get the credit that they deserve. It's called the Right(or Wrong) place at the right time syndrom (or whatever). I myself have gained a lot of knowledge from this forum..I've noticed that there are those who THINK that they own it..or IT IS Thier's..but out side of Bob and some of his appointed assistants...we are all just participants...This is a forum about Pedal Steel Guitar...playing, maintaining ,bying and selling, players, and whatever else goes along with it. We have been invited in by Mr Bob...and we should participate civilly, and respecfully. We all have our own thoughts and agendas..someof us are not as knowlegable as others, and we all have feelings. We should have mutual respect for each other, and enjoy learning and providing information to ALL the Formites. OOOPs..My soap box just broke...Mike..I'll try to see you next week.

Bob, I get paid and if this was 1978 it would be a good amount. I rely on c.d. sales and other things such as sessions and showcases to go along with it to make my living. I remember my daddy told me years ago that when he got out of the army in 1946 he played music with some guys in Roanoke,Va. doing shows at school houses, and playing radio shows etc. and made decent money but he said that the cost of living kept going up but the money didn't. Some things never change. If a person gets in this game we call music to make lots of money more likely than not they will be very, very heartbroken. You have to love it to keep on doing it. Mike

Paul, once you have posted, leave it at that. I have done the same thing too, and felt like an ass, but sometimes the computer systems are VERY SLOW, but let the process take the time it needs. I have clicked on a different post, then come back to my original post, and it would posted. I think I ticked off ol' Bobbie Slizmore one time because I answered him 4 or 5 times with the same friggin' post.
Anyway, Paul, best of luck, and keep pickin' a winner.
