Another reason not to drink at gigs. Lots of guitar players ( steel included ) " THINK " they can play better after a few drinks. Nothing could be further from the truth.

About 5 years ago after a great round of golf and a zillion beers with the guys I was on my way home in my Pickup truck and the next thing I knew they were loading me into a "meat wagon. It seems I left the road ,hit a pole and wrapped around it shearing the pole leaving it hanging by it's high tension wires only.My seat belt saved me from going through the windshield although I hit it and the steering wheel broke some ribs and bruised my sternum. My knee has never been the same. Luckily at that time of the day traffic was light and I couldn't be interviewed for at least three hours until the emergency room creww got done prying me out of the truck and rushing my sorry ass to the Hospital.I was lucky and it was my wake-up call.I did get a reckless driving citation and paid a fine. Totalled my truck, covered by insurance, Paid 1600.00 for the pole and many medical dollars.I play golf three four times a week now but I never touch a drink if I am driving.I thought I was a great driver when I was drinking but that "sudden stop" woke me up.Alcaline and Gasalol just don't mix........

Well [my opinion] if the bands played great music, the audience would not have to drink to enjoy them, and the clubs could charge higher covers to offset costs! But, many pickers would still be out of work... right?
