I try to set up by the door so the rest of the band can help me out, if necessary. Really on stage left by the bass player and drummer. Been in that spot 25 years. The other leads are on the other side of the stage and we communicate by hand signals. I can hear them so there is no problem. I double off on rhythm and sometimes lead guitar so it works for me.

I guess you can see from the answers here that it is whereever you are comfortable.

I always set up on stage left with my steel slanted facing slightly right. That way I can see the lead singer and guitar player at the same time. Helps when singing harmony and trading leads.
