Two of the best steel solos ever recorded : Curly Chalker-Crying In The Deep Blue Sea; Stirring Up The Ashes-both with Hank Thompson.

The hottest steel break or solo that I’ve ever heard would be by Doug Jernigan. On a Vassar Clements Album they did an up tempo rendition of Old Black Magic. Doug took a break on the chorus that still boggles my mind. Give it a listen sometime.

I was knocked out by the Hughey solo on "I've Just Destroyed the World I'm Living In"; it starts at the nut, and just walks its way on up to the 27th fret, in a few measures... unreal.
The clip is up on Rebel& Ricky's site... I think it's a Conway Twitty song?

How about Flint Hill Special and 4 Wheel Drive by Buddy Emmons....or "I'll come Running" by Weldon Myric? Just to name a few.
