With all due respect,b0b, Mutt is pitching the non-steel version to that very large audience. He's trying to suck in us old country boys with Paul's pickin'.
I'll admint that the double dose CD is an interesting concept, but I'd bet good money that if you go to a concert you won't hear the country version on more than one of those cuts. Tokenism?

It's actually kind of a nice nod to her country fans that they bothered, much less spending the time and money to get the best to come play the country versions. I seriously doubt the idea was to "suck anyone in". Who needs to at the discount price they're charging? Guess which versions "Country" radio is playing? Yeah, the pop versions. I like the country sides. It's more country than most of what you hear nowdays....who'd a thunk you'd ever be saying THAT!

Eric, that's why it's called "pop." It's definition is "whatever sells the most," and that's it's reason for existence. Blame the people who buy it. My three pre-teen girls love it. When I told them the kind of music they like is called pop because it is the most popular music, they were thrilled to have their taste so validated. It was kind of sweet. My teenage son of course hates pop, and listens only to rap, reggae and hardcore. I'm sure my girls will soon become elitist like that and spurn pop. Let them enjoy it while they may, I see no need to rush them along.
Me I listen to a little of everything. And when I can't take anymore of the playlists, I pop in a CD of George Jones, early Ray Price, Bob Wills, early Elvis, Mozart, B.B. King, or Coltrane. After all, genius is genius.
