Theresa! All of a sudden your right! Especially regarding the Whites! They were the best thing going, when Tommy was with them, & still great with Steve! Apparently some on here dont consider a group w/ great steel as something they want to hear on the Opry! & would just as soon listen to Del McWhatshisname? They need to get on a Bluegrass Forum! & get whined to death! Everyone is entitled to my opinion!

The show was great!! And I'm including The Del McCoury Band's performance in that statement. They're one of the tightest, most cohesive bands in the business. Del is a very gifted songwriter, musician and bandleader... He is also very well respected within the music community. His influence runs far and wide. He made his first appearance on the opry as a "Bluegrass Boy" in 1963. Since then the list is very long. In addition to the Opry, he's done Austin City Limits, performed at the Lincoln Center, recorded with PHISH, and cut a critically acclaimed album with Steve Earle... and that's just a few of the highlights.

I can't believe someone from in and around Nashville has never heard of Del McCoury...

Bluegrass is as acceptable on the opry as
anything with steel. Remeber Bill Monroe predates pedal steel by a few years.

I got my first McCoury album not even knowing he was bluegrass. I loved it and then I got to know his history etc.

I'd rather hear more bluegrass mixed with steel cuts then whats on New Country radio

What are you guys thinkin about Charlie Louvin?! That is a FANTASTIC!! Louvin Brothers song, the turn that Tommy played on it has become my new favorite Tommy White turn of all time!, and Charlie STILL sounds good. And Steve Wilkerson, I had never heard him play guitar before, MAN! Great tone, great licks, great touch! A superb musician. An EXCELLENT cut. Charlie Louvin can still sing COUNTRY!
