I saw her interviewed on TV once, and she that her first choice was not to sing country, but to sing broadway show tunes. She said she turned to country when, at the age of 12, she auditioned for somebody in New York who turned her down.

Actually I think she's pretty cute, but then Faith and Shania are like swizzle sticks and Barbie Dolls to me.. of little interest.

Herb, I've seen a copy of that tape somewhere, maybe a CD version on an auction site, and I had much of the same reaction!
It's like Marty Stuart and Ricky Skaggs, they were veterans at 20.. sheesh.

<SMALL>"It was a cassette called "Leanne Rimes, The Early Years."</SMALL>
When I made my CD, I considered entitling it, "Jim Cohen: The Early Years". It woulda been just as weird as Leanne's use of the title, but for different reasons!

when you hit the big time as "yodelin' jailbait" where else is there to go but to "Crossover"??

Blue was a novelty tune. Fun progression, but the novelty was the age of the singer in relation to the lyric. Like what herb said about "the early years"

So often in this business people (performers) are looking for an audience instead of being themselves.

Didn't Bill Mack write "Blue" with Patsy Cline in mind? And in MHO non of these are really great singers compared to TAMMY!

Speaking of Eddy Arnold!!!!!!!!! How's about old Ray Price that had the world at the tip of his fingers with 4/4 shuffle and went to backups like Eddy did and left the scene.

Where is he now????? Doing country with the 4/4 shuffle at a ripe old age of 70 something.

Packing the house.
