Its a shame Charley Pride didn't have Ronnie Miller(an old Denverite now in Dallas) on steel. He is a GREAT player and would have played his fanny-off for Charley on his Induction. My only consolation is that 2 truly country artists were Inducted.

The only lead instruments I heard on Charlie Pride's songs were Guitar and Fiddle. I purpously mentioned to my wife, at the time, that there wasn't any steel.

About 30 minutes was all I could muster. I turned it off and played my own no matter how bad it is. I would be ashamed to call this an example of country music. On a brighter note, the Indiana Lottery has a new commercial featuring a lot of great steel playing. I don't know who done it, but it's great to hear it on TV and radio.

Question - - - Are we just getting too OLD ??

Too Old? Probably so. But then according to what has been written about the current Nashville product, it's aimed at teeny bopper girls because they are the ones that spend the most money on CD's.

With two great season openers on TV last night (West Wing and Voyager), I didn't give the CMA a thought. My VCR was busy, and I vegged in front of the tube for nearly 4 hours.

Luckily I was ill last night. I just layed in bed drifting in and out of sleep and listening to the Baseball game on TV.

Darn! You mean I missed another Awards show? Oh well, sounds like there was only about 15 min. worth watching anyway.

CC in TX - I fully agree, in fact when saw your post, couldn't imagine that Carl Smith wasn't already in the Hall.
and as others have mentioned, it's a shame that they didn't get to Faron Young while he was still around - after that segment, I plugged headphones into my stereo and listened thru "Hello Walls" about 4 times.

Today's country music makes me glad that our band plays the oldies. If we do a song that did not originally have steel in it, they tell me to find a place to put some, we're gonna have it. Martina looked REAL good, though.
