Hi, Ken! I'm a recent non-pedal convert myself and have been immensely enjoying the new additions, my bandmates and the band fans seem to dig it too. I'm sure you can get the main fun of it all on a pedal guitar, I spend some time practicing non pedal ideas on the top 8 of my C6 neck... but there's really no substitute for the non pedal guitars. One thing is the sound, they do sound and respond differently, they're fun and have a cool factor all their own... and a really nice thing with a double (or better) tripleneck is the ability to experiment with different tunings, and use them within the songs you're playing. Fun to swap from C6 to E13 and back. If you decide to go shopping, I have two Triple 8 Customs and a Double 8, can certainly let one of those go. Good luck!

Hey C. Dixon

I want to introduce you to another JB fan.
He has been a long time admirer of JB.
Check out this clip of "Estrelita". His name
is Phil Bender.

I haven't read this thread for a while, but I have to totally disagree w/ Mark's statement that a pedal can't substitute for a non...especially a Sho-Bud...I've checked out Jerry Byrd's Sho-Bud quite closely, and the pickups are the same as all other Sho-Bud Pro pickups except for the size, so you can get the same tone, w/ a Sho-Bud, Ken has a Doubleneck, so he can change string gauges and put any tuning he wants on there, he's not stuck w/ E9- C6...and I am positive coolness factor has nothing to do w/ tone, playability or music...Just my opinion,
Aloha,
Mike

Maurie,
Thanks for posting Phil Bender's version of
"Estrelita" on your website. Phil is a great
steel guitarist and his rendition is tasteful and inspiring. Do you have a recording of
Phil's "Mood Indigo"?

We need more standards performed on the
non-pedal steel!

Thanks again,
Gerald Ross
