Good technology will always get better and one main, very important feature of AI, is that it "learns by doing".

If one remembers the earliest versions of Google Translate, it was embarrassing to the point of being worthless. Now it is a far better and reliable tool that makes my life far easier.

I predict that we will go through a familiar sequence of "OMG, AI is taking over"; "AI must be regulated"; [Somekinda Laws] and then finally we will happily allow an AI driven robot to correct cataracts whilst calming us by playing relaxing lap-steel music tailored our personal taste and hormone levels!

Right you are Paul

Remember that cell phones were only for the rich. That electric cars were destined to failure...and that CDs are the best musical device ever...

I played with tha “AI” sever for half a day.
I askef about pedal steel changers and it bored me with very accurate historical findings. It could even fairly well compare all pull and push pull changers (mostly from text I also have from patents.

Then I asked it at which point AI woul become a threat to humanity.
I declared it self “error, try again later”! Ha, got’cha, Tin Can!

It’s actually NOT really AI, as it does NOT make deductions from all it reads up.
It just gobbles up all available published material and associates it.
AI would mean to have the ability to LEARN from what it reads and come up with novel ideas by itself.
