Doug, Maybe your next instrumental should be titled 'Eymonabiercan', or not.

What you ought to do as well is save the empties and sign them and sell to adoring fans at future gigs. Might not be funny but would be fun

Sorry Doug but because of you and your beer I had tears running down my leg as a result of ALL the comments.....what a group we all share.
Congrats on your new found popularity.

Sam

Not a bad idea! Maybe I could play a song using the can as a bar.

That Jeff Garden: he's persistent, if nothing else. :)

Mind you, if I lived anywhere near Doug's venue, I'd have Porter can or two for myself!

:whoa:

Porter is big in the UK, no? Originally brewed in England, I believe.

I believe it is, Doug, but not by that name. Maybe a type of 'stout'.

Excuse my appalling pun - that's for Jeff, and not for the adult Forumites. :)

Cool Doug. I think this is consistent with what everybody has always told me about bands playing in bars - "Hey, you're beer salesmen."

The term porter originated in England - e.g.,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porter_(beer) (note: you will have to copy/paste this link in browser - phpbb apparently cannot, with this particular URL, process the underscore _ or its URL encoded equivalent, %5F)

https://www.anchorbrewing.com/blog/port ... e-history/

Stout generally refers to the strength, e.g., stout porters - although there are different types of stouts - e.g.,

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stout

Those links all opened for me when I clicked on them.
...everybody has always told me about bands playing in bars - "Hey, you're beer salesmen."
Reminds me of what our guitar player said to me back in the '80s... "We're in the alcohol business!"

Not to mention what the bass player said about the many prostitutes who frequented the motel/restaurant/bar where we were a house band... "What we do is not that different from what they do.". I thought that was a bridge too far! :o

Did the wikipedia article on porter beer actually go to porter (beer) or just porter? Mine just goes to the disambiguation page for porter - I have to scroll down to find porter (beer) - recent Firefox. Different browsers may handle this differently.
I thought that was a bridge too far! :o
Um ... I suppose that depends on the band - but that's a bridge too far for me too.

Yes, It just goes to Porter, not the beer specifically

Probably the best decription of Porter would be from the late Michael Jackson of Britain, he was the foremost authority on brewing, and his PBS TV show. I'm sure Roger knew him back in the day!
