Those antics may impress the young "heads", but they never did anything for me (even when Buddy did them).
I did get a chuckle out of the ZZ Top "twin spins", though!

I can accept both sides of the reasons why and why not to use wireless on a psg...BUT......it's not whether or not you NEED to use them it's DO YOU WANT TO? .......
Me I like using them because I don't have yards of cable laying all over, plus if I do want to move my amp or psg I don't need to unplug things and plug thgem back in.
If you would like to use them DO IT....They work, but buy a good brand. I use them for my lap steel, psg and regular guitar into one amp ...one receiver and three transmitters. Don't have to plug and unplug cables, just swtich guitars
Enjoy

Wireless
Bluetooth has latency. It is inherent in the technology. So bluetooth devices do not work well,if at all for monitoring. RF on the otherhand does not have perceptive latency. What you could do is get something like the Xvive wireless In ear unit and plug headphones into that or use in ear monitors. You can use one from VP to amp also. Of course you've got to mix your steel and any other program material you want to hear and then transmit with Xvive or similar system. I like others don't see the point of wireless with steel. Enough to carry around already. I use Telonics rack gear and the KISS system. I just plug my headphones into that and put whatever else I want to monitor into the aux input. Can't get much simpler.

I've been on a wireless kick over the last 10 months. The gear has got better and cheaper in the last year or two.
I run everything wireless from me to my pedalboard and then a snake to my amp (with dc fed back to the pedalboard)
I use Lekato 5.8g from guitar
Lekato 5.8g xlr from headset mic to vocal processor TC Helicon Play acoustic which I also mix in Guitar, Kick and Snare pedals into
I use headphones for studio practice and this has been the last step.
In ear wireless that I have tried didn't have enough signal for headphones unfortunately
Bluetooth does not work too much latency
RF proved too noisy
I was using an Alctron setup but the built in noise gate cut out on long notes.
I'm now using AIAIAI wireless+ 2.4G and I'm finally happy.
