I had one that had 1/2" SS cross shafts with 1/2" bell cranks. Those parts are available as I modified the guitar to use 3/8" square cross shafts with appropriate bell cranks (it is now in the hands of someone in the Sacred Steel organization)~

What was the process of connecting the top of the cabinet to the vertical front and back pieces ? Screws and plugs, or wooden dowels ? Anyone know ? I would like to build a Body from some nice Maple and use wood endpieces like my old Wright Custom and I am wondering on how to best join these pieces. I only have one old photo of my old Wright Custom psg and it is not enough to understand how it was put together. Any info welcome.

Hey, I also would like to know, does anyone have, or have pictures of, a Wright with an all wood body, where the endpieces are wood, wood neck, and wood keyhead ? The only pictures I have seen like this are my old Wright custom, and Barbara Mandrells. I also recall that my wright had a roller nut and roller bridge like the later model Fenders. also, any info on how the legs were mounted on the all wood body like mine ? The body on mine I believe was Maple, but I have seen ads that say it is Alder, anyone know ? Thanks in advance fo any and all help. Fred

I worked on a D-8 Wright now owned by Austin musician Bobby Horton that was built for Chubby Howard. It had some characteristics of Bigsby-type guitars and some of Fender-type cable-pull guitars; kind of an amalgam of 1950's steel development. I estimated it to be a late-50's guitar and it looks very much like Todd's guitar pictured above.

I met and hung out with Chuck at the 2003 Western Swing Hall of Fame Induction in Sacramento. He's a salty ol' guy now and a very, very cool hang! :) David was there displaying a red S-12 Millenium and everyone was ga-ga over that one as well.

Thanks Dave, cool photo!

Left to right: Yours truly, Chuck Wright, Don Burnham, Bobby Black, David Wright, and ?

Don is a western swing bandleader in N. CA. Bobby Black plays with him from time to time.

Having been to Steve's house, I'd say definately yes! :)

And back to Wrights; Marty, I believe yours is a mid 50's. I had one exactly like that, only with pedals and it was ca. -55. I sold it to a forumite Chris Cummings.
