Chris- Yes,it's Simul-class,and the speaker is an EVM 12L.IIRC it has EL-34's now,but it had 6L6's for awhile. It does overdrive really well and clean OK.Chris Reesor wrote:I personally liked the sound of my 60 watt, no graphic eq Mark III much better for steel than the Session 500 I also owned at the time. Even with the EVM12L it was still lighter than the Session, and not even in the same galaxy as a six string amp.
Better reverb, and plenty of volume and headroom too.
What speaker is in your Hardwood, Dave H? Is it a SimulClass circuit?
A couple of friends had SimulClass Mark III's and mine sounded better as a clean amp. Not just to me; they both thought so too.
Does Anyone Use a Mesa Boogie Tube Amp for their Steel?

For years I played an F50.. known for its clean sound..was very Fender-ish. with two channels, it made for a good Guitar/Steel double duty amp.

I have a 50 watt Mesa Boogie F-50 head I purchased from a forum member. Pair of 6L6 Power tubes and definitely hangs out in Fender territory. I have a
1-12 Mesa 12 inch rectifier angled cab with a Tone Tubby red alnico speaker.
Like Charlie mentioned, I use this setup if I am playing pedal steel and guitar.

I survived the sixties!
I don't know. I bought them from a factory employee about 15 years ago. They're red, if that helps narrow it down. Might not be in current production.James Quackenbush wrote:â€I have a 12" Tone Tubby Alnico Hempcone in it, .â€
