me and my friend/mentor who is a great player,,have recorded at least 10 different steels,,he played the same thing the same way,,direct,,through brad's black box,,ect. to my ears most modern all pull guitars sound close to the same,,but maybe 1 out of ten push pulls,will have that special,,sweet bell like tone,,at least when he played. but i found that i sound about the same on any guitar,,,so i think most of it is in your hands,,and loyd green was the 1st steel player i heard that put cold chills down my back,,he was playing an ldg through 2 nashville 400s
