Ray correct. Oil bad. I've been designing and building machinery for forty years, and the rule that stays with you after a couple of, shall we say, unfortunate experiences, is that the choice of hydraulics should be the very last one you consider.

David Parker built a hydraulic steel years ago but I never got to play it. It was all apart by the time I met him.

I repair printing presses in the daytime and I have to go along with the "It's gonna leak someday" theory.

I beleive the hardest problem to overcome is getting the correct feel. There is something special about feeling the string pressure change linked directly to your foot. You become part of the guitar.
