Ok I know I'm being wishy washy but I need to stick with my 6 string dobro tuning, wider string spacing and humbucking pickup. I've had a trade offer that I'm going to pursue to a person who will keep the Carvin in tact and play it.
If the offer falls through I'll likely put it on the for sale/ trade forum.

Nice looking guitar Very nice Condition I would USE IT and Leave it alone!

Play it In a couple years, maybe less, you will another You can not go back Just leave it alone at least for several years.
Enjoy !!!!!

Try adding at string on the top or your GBDBBE and a string at one at the bottom.
I like adding F# To start with

I tune E But an F# in your tuning would work Nicely.

Yours is prettier than mine. I like the sound/tone & clarity of mine. I've gigged with it for the past few years. The only additional thing I did with mine was to have through the body string attachments drilled. Used the same bridge & nut. I dropped my tone bar on the pick up that took out a piece of the pups exterior. Still sounds good so I'm not changing it.

BTW I use a Bb13th tuning but raised the bottom Bb to a B to provide a Dim. 7th on the bottom.

I'm going to stick with 6 string dobro tuning. I have one of those guitar nut extenders sitting on top of the 8 string nut. If I make any changes (nut, tuners) I will keep the old parts and not make any new holes so the next owner can easily put everything back the way it was originally.

The pickup sounds great so most likely I'll keep that as is. Can't hear the buzz/hum when I'm playing so I'll just turn volume off in between songs. That's the plan anyway.

Been playing it at church and have our town's fall festival coming up that I'll be playing at so enjoying it much.
