It's getting to where I hear this stuff but picture Doug playing it in a video. If you are taking requests, I would love to hear you do "Atlantis".

Hi Scott, I did Atlantis last year ——->

I’m not too happy with this one though. The tone of the Emmons lap steel is not what I hoped it would be. I should have played the song on one of my older guitars.

Hey...either I missed it or my memory isn't so great!
Anyway, it's a natural for the Doug Beaumier treatment, and you do a great job!

I was surfing the web today and found this great rendition of "Apache" on YouTube, figured there was a thread about it here at the SGF.
Hey Doug, just wanted to say "great job"! And over 1.8 million views...Right on!

Thanks Jesse! This has been my most popular video by far. It reached 1 Million views in just six weeks. That's mostly because YouTube has been featuring it as a "recommended" video to viewers. I appreciate all of the views and the kind comments.
I can tell by the YouTube comments that the vast majority of viewers are not steel guitarists. They're mostly folks searching for oldies, surf music, instrumental music, 1960s music, etc. Many of them don't even know what instrument I'm playing... but they like it. That's good though, because it brings the steel guitar to new audiences worldwide. Always a good thing.

Today this video reached 2 Million views... in less than 4 months.
I'm amazed by that. Looks like Surf guitar is still alive and well!

Congratulations Doug, your steel work grooves on that tune. Now that you have gone viral on YouTube, I guess YouTube will ask you to partner up with them and make money off of the advertising profits...Right on!

Today this video reached 3 Million views!
I did a YouTube search for "Steel Guitar" and then sorted by view count, and it shows that only two steel videos have more views: "Sleep Walk" by Santo & Johnny and "High Hopes" by Pink Floyd / David Gilmour 😎

Well deserved views Doug, it's a great version of the tune.

Doug it is great that something from the very niche world of Lap Steel Guitar as been such a success in the real world. I have to mention that to me it has come from the right person. Back a few years ago when I was considering trying to play Lap Steel Guitar it was your videos and books that inspired me and hopefully put me on the right track to play as well as I possibly could.
This video is a very well deserved mark in the sand for Lap Steel Guitar and I look forward to more coverage for the instrument that has too long been lying in the neglected corner of modern music....A big thumbs up!

Thanks Mike and Keith. For me, the most gratifying part is knowing that millions of viewers are seeing and hearing a steel guitar, many for the first time. As I mentioned earlier, I can tell by the comments that the vast majority of the viewers are not steel guitarists and are probably not musicians at all.
I'm working on a version of Pipeline now. I hope to record that in the next couple of weeks.

Think I may be responsible for at least 20 views.
Congratulations on 4 million well deserved views.
I for one have enjoyed your approach to many songs over a long time.
Thanks for all.

Like almost everyone here, I've been playing this tune since the '60s, but not on steel until I purchased Doug's book. It's one of the first of the "25 More Songs" I learned. Congrats, Doug.
(By the way, a timely new Avatar, Mr. B.)
