PS:

Why does it sound acceptable to tune the E strings on C6 pretty well straight-up? They're the 3rd scale tone in C (just as the G#s are the 3rd in E) but they sound fine tuned up.

I've always pondered that.

I would guess the aluminum body frame leads to rigidity. Other factor that may help is the harder die board.

Sure, Hughey's intro on Vince Gill's "Look at Us" is a famous one! And as I recall, Lloyd used it on Mel Street's "Smokey Mountain Memories". I'm sure there are many others.

Of course, you're right. I have never gone into that steel part, as pretty as it is. I just tried it and there it is: C pedal and 1st string.
