Thx Kerry. I'll get back to you after I take a look. I'm still tweaking so things/settings can change as time goes on.

Kerry,
Setting start at:

Bass all the way on.
Middle at 3 O'clock
Treble at 1 O'clock.

Amp type is acoustic. The sample that you heard were with the Clean setting but I have since switched to Acoustic, believe it or not. I the beginning I never thought of even trying another besides clean for steel. With the suggestion of one of the Forumnites to try acoustic, I was sold.

Regards,
Ron Hogan

Another example using the Katana's onboard effect (envelope follower). Accoustic setting rather then clean.

Ron, thanks so much for the samples of your playing thru the Katana.

Have you connected via USB to your computer to access the BOSS effects? How do you like it? Easy to navigate? Thanks.

Stephen,
Yes I have hooked it their site via USB. like anything else you have to play with it. I was able to tweak my effects some. And backup my tones with effects. The software is free.
Thx
Ron

If it had the controls on the front I would probably own one already.

I just bought one at GC, and that is exactly my problem as well, I decided to see how I like it, and if the tone is good I'll keep it....

there's a fix for that

I set mine on the speaker cab with the controls facing forward--it sits on the front panel. You don't get to see that lovely logo--I'm OK with that.

I bought one last month from SGofNashville and have been using it in the studio and out at gigs and I can say I'm very pleased with it. Versatile with great tone and it is light, a lot lighter than my Twin Reverb!!! And very affordable!

I surrender... I'm out of excuses. I don't change the controls during a gig anyway. My back is screaming, "buy me one, please!"

I found a used one locally. Hope to pick it up in the morning.

Ron, your video was informative. Thanks!

Several comments have mentioned the need to increase bass EQ. The XR-16 in my Carter seems to have strong lows and low-mids, at least through my Fender tube amp. The Katana might be a good match.

This update was just released for the Katana amps. Looks like a free downloadable firmware update.

https://www.roland.com/us/company/press ... ATANA-AMP/

The press release mentions improved DI, didn't see any details. The Katana has line level 1/4" unbalanced Direct Out. Would have preferred balanced XLR. I have a passive DI box that works great, but it's one more "thingy" to hook up before a gig.

Upgrade to the woodshed

I couldn't wait to share my good fortune. 32 pounds of sweet tone, quiet and clean, found at local Music Go Round for $229.

To my ears it's a nice match for the XR-16 in my Carter. Looks like the start of a beautiful relationship.

Ron, that's your accessory clip holding my tuner.

I did a TV taping recently here in Nashville and used the Katana on it.
