Thanks guys, I tried to write out the tablature a couple of days ago, but I was having problems playing the pattern slowly so I could figure out exactly what I did! In other words, I can play it fast but I can't play it slow! I'll give it another try in a couple of days.

I mentioned this before with you Doug but I think it's worth another observation , your playing is excellent but your right hand looks so relaxed. There are a few players whose right hand looks so awkward with digits sticking out in various directions and there are players like yourself whose right hand looks where it should be. At the end of the day I suppose it's the end result that matters but with a hand that looks like yours there seems less effort to achieve maximum effect. I guess there will still be the pick block or palm block or a combination of both to argue about but your right hand looks to me how it should look.

Thanks Alan, yes, this is mostly pick blocking, so I don't need to use the edge of my hand to block the strings, like with palm blocking. So there's not much bouncing of the hand required for this. I studied Jeff Newman's material back in the day and I spent a lot of time practicing palm blocking, turning the hand slightly and using the edge of the hand to block every note. But that doesn't work so well for the stuff I'm playing here. This pattern is mostly 16th notes and pick blocking works better here IMO. It's almost like playing banjo rolls. I also studied with Jimmie Crawford for a week in Nashville back in the day and learned about his style of blocking, which he called the semi-mute. He played a lot of banjo style rolls on steel. There are a lot of variations of this pattern. I think I play it a little different each time. Pick blocking is important to keep the notes from running together.
