Another vote for one of Todd's guitars. A D-8 for me.

I'd like a six string Fry Pan, too, though I'm not worthy.

I'm saving up for a Glaswerks Zingano 50 watt amp, so I guess that's the dream amp.

I'm happy with the National and Dunlop picks I use and I'm still experimenting with bars.

easy but different from above, S8 console from GeorgeBoards with alumitone pickup, stevens bar, via low profile goodrich peddle and roland cube 40.

Well I started with a 6 string National purchased from Jack Pennewell [not sure of spelling] in 1946, would like to have that back just for sentimental reasons, my first. Then I purchased a Fender double 8 stringmaster when in the navy, Should have kept that. but as Doug Beaumier said in his post. "I'm happy with the guitar I have" An 8 string Melbert built by Bob Allen. It's a great instrument. As for Amps I had a Fender with Spring reverb I liked, but it's gone, I now have a PEVY 112, I'M HAPPY. Bars & picks, what ever is comfortable.

Now that's a list 'O fun! 💸💸
I'm pretty happy having two hands to play all the wrong notes...and two ears to
hear how bad those notes sound. Unless all of the instruments I once had, some
of which are in the photo, could come back home! Oh well...

I've really enjoyed this thread. 'Very entertaining and educational. My honest answer to your question, unfortunately, will not be nearly as interesting as many of the others. I've been lucky to have played (but not owned) many of the most sought after steel guitars (vintage and new) out there, and I prefer mine. I have only one and I like its sound and feel more than any of the others I've played. As for amps, there is a certain sound that I love and seek out that is present on many of the old country, Western swing, and Hawaiian records that I love, and, while I haven't played through many amps, the only ones I've found that produce that sound are really cheap, small amps (8" speaker or smaller) that typically sell for $75.00 or less used. I just can't get that sound out of the expensive amps I've used. When I learn to play better, I'm sure my opinions will changes, but that's where I am on this question today.

A "tone bar" is what they were called many years ago. Some of the wholesale catalogs I have in the store still have a page for "Tone Bars" which includes Shubb, Stevens, and others.

Yeah i know from RAM guitars. Ron makes some absolute beauties.

Absolute stunner guitar. Its my dream shape size etc.

I can live with 13 strings. Easily.

Because I play mainly Hawaiian Music I list the following in order of importance. No sound beats the Rickenbacher.

9. S-6 Acoustic Oahu

In the near future I will be selling the Fender Stringmaster and the Sierra.

Just looking at your Lap Steel Guitar inspires me. Man what a sight to behold.

Aluminum Clinesmith 8-string for sure. Also some thing old with a P-90. Maybe a Gibson Century?? And from the more modest side of the lap steel tracks, I'd love to find a really healthy supro studio or similar ... don't care about looks so much if it has that sound.

I am getting very, very old and my wife does not want to be in charge of selling steel guitars that she knows nothing about.

I will be gradually selling most of them but over time. That is the price of reality.

I'd get an orig. Weissenborn. I am told they sound very ethereal...and very expensive!

I'm intrigued by the Fender PS210 Would love to sit down to one of them. .............I also wish I still had my Rickerbacker Model G 8string.......................As for the modern pedal steels I am a ZumSteel guy.
