I'm thrilled about this! I've been waiting for a long time for this, since John Jorgenson first told me about it in February of 2014. i just ordered mine.

Mine arrived yesterday. A great record! Tons of "how did he do that?" moments.

I believe he's booked at the S.W. Steel Show in Phoenix in Jan. I'd think he'd have C.D.s on site. If so, I'll have one for sure !!

My favourite track is 'Misty' - not only do we get a reprise of JayDee's great solo from the hit record but lots of his other great ideas throughout the recording.

Something's driving me nuts, though! Where have I heard 'Fat and Sassy' before? I see it's co-written by John Hobbs which should be a clue ('The Players', maybe?) but I've heard those chord-changes before somewhere.

Great work, Jaydee - I'm delighted you've finally got around to making your CD!

(Now I'm going to see if I can find all that B major rambling in 'Just Stuff' - it's excellent!)

"Fat n Sassy" was on the old "Pacific Steel" album.

Thanks, Darvin - of course it was. That's reminded me to dig that out and listen again.

I'm interested now in the John Hobbs connection. 'Suite Steel' and 'Pacific...' were very much California-based projects from the 1970s - is that where Hobbs began his career, I wonder?

I just ordered my copy a few minutes ago. I think the lineup of the musicias taking part in that project also is quite promising. Thanx for this thread!!!

Just adding to the already numerous accolades of this new release by JD Maness, we are treated to to a wide variety of tones and techniques. My personal fav is Rainbows all over your Blues, with it's fabulous pairing of talents. while paying homage to the original cut by Buddy, there are outstanding passages that leave one shaking their head thinking "Wow, how'd he do that". These passages are so well played, One realizes that JD truly is one of the Masters of the Steel Guitar. A great job by Fish on the production of that track.......

30th anniversary today, and I've been dropping hints to Mrs. Claus all over the place. If I'm good, JayDee's CD will show up in a stocking hung over the fireplace. But my honey says she will NOT get me one of those emboidered jackets :( :( And JayDee looks so good in his.

I've had my copy for a few days now. (thanks JW)
All I can say is that listening to Jay Dee's playing on this new CD is exactly the same as every time I have had the pleasure of hearing him play live over the last 40 years of our friendship. It is so good and well done that you can't help but be inspired to strive for his level of touch and taste as a musician.

It's 16F here in Colorado. Got some beautiful snow yesterday. Now it's time to go outside, fire up the big 2-stage snow machine, and do some "man work." The ear-buds underneath that hearing protection are working fine, and JayDee is Painting Rainbows all over my blues!

If you love the pedal steel guitar, get this CD.

If you don't know what pedal steel really sounds like, GET THIS CD. Then you'll know, and you will love the steel guitar. Thanks JayDee!
