Does anyone tune using a tuning fork?

Man to hate a multi effects pedal is not logical. Would you rather carry 15 or more pedals around with you?

Or is it that you don't like changing the natural tone of the instrument? If it's the latter then guess what the audio engineer in me can't resist. Any amplified sound WILL change the characteristics of the instrument. Likewise the room size will affect its tone to the listener. So there goes that hope.

So unless you plan on only playing to yourself in headphones and never changing the setting. Your tone will vary.

Besides there is tons of great music that alter their tone. Even Buddy Emmons used effects. From jazz to blues to rock and even country or hawaain be it as little as reverb or as much as distortion with delays that snap back. I wouldn't write off other music that alters the guitar tone cause guess what they ALL do.

It's like painting a masterpiece in black ink over and over either you or your audience will get bored. Use some alternate colours. Jazz musicians learnt this when they nearly became extinct.

Even now when I see amazing jazz guitarists playing out and the audience talks through their entire set cause to their untrained ears it sounds nice but not good enough to be memorable. No change in tone.
