I'm new to in-ear systems and still up in the air about which personal earphone amp to get. I have a small Behringer mixer (X1204USB), but feel like it's overkill compared to the small battery operated amps available.

I use an old Fender amp that has no direct out and would probably have to mic it and run the mic to the personal earphone amp and then pass through to the FOH board, and then have the aux from the house mix into the other channel of the personal amp and then blend them for myself. Sound right? (no pun intended)

Has anyone used the Rolls PM351 as a personal amp? http://www.rolls.com/product.php?pid=PM351

For in-ears I got the Sennheiser IE6, haven't tried them yet.

Thanks for the heads up on that Rolls unit, I was thinking of building something almost exactly like that on my own for use in an IEM system. It has good reviews on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/rolls-PM351-Perso ... B001032IDS

barrooms, lodges, clubs, outside gigs?
i can understand maybe using them for huge concert venues, but anything else seems a little pretentious or at least unnecessary.

You can control your ear "monitor" from your IPhone if monitor control is an issue for you.
Or you can tell the guitar player to turn down.

I use Rolls with cords and not wireless.

iPhone - what's that? I'm still using a Raz'r.. I just got an iPad Air and use it for charts.

I remember turning a guitar player down and he didn't even notice

I was figuring the Rolls as hardwired.
