I have never seen Quilter on any equipment before last year. Is this not a new line or what?

Hello Les,thanks for your reply.

I've known about Pat and QSC etc. for years but my point was that I had never seen the "Quilter" name on any equipment all the way back to the 60's. I was surprised to see it in that old photograph as I thought it was more a recent venture by Pat after he retired from QSC.

Hi, Dick. You're way ahead of me, then :) I had just found out that Quilter and QSC were founded by the same guy.

I purchased my Steelaire at the Dallas show. Although I have not played it outside my home I can say it is the most beautiful sounding amp I've played. I've owned and played many amps and currently own 3 others besides the Quilter. The quality is outstanding and a tone to die for.

Joe,you won't be disappointed in my opinion. Take it to the gig, don't be afraid to crank it up as it stays clean and it also doesn't get harsh either.

EQ section is just right with enough response to get what you are looking for. I love the reverb and the 9V stomp box output and the weight is heavenly.

Have fun and enjoy.

Another satisfied customer here! Cleanest, quietest, lightest, best sounding amp I've ever owned.
And, CE, the only authorized dealer in Texas is here in Austin - Calaveras Guitar Boutique.

I remember some issue brought up about not being loud enough and I don't remember how that turned out. I would like to hear from anyone who has also had experience with NV400's. While I'm sure the Quilter sounds better does it keep up with a NV400 for sheer volume?

I have owned most every steel amp on the market
a evans a peavey Nashville 112, Nashville 400, session 400, ltd 400,a bradshaw webb, a session 500
a fender steelking, a twin reverb, and in my book right out of the box this beets them all,and volume wise it can match or beat them all.

Steven I couldn't agree more. Arty, got my amp case from Keal. They build a great case and really enjoyed the trains.

The Steelaire is the finest amp I have that I have ever played.

Re: Steelaire:

Discovered that putting my delay pedal (Wampler Faux Analog delay) just before the amp input, sounds much better than using it in the FX loop. The loop introduces the delay back into the signal chain after the reverb just before the amp stage, which (for reasons I cant't explain,) sounds mushier.

I love the Steelaire in general.. The only downside of this arrangement is that the I lose the function of the FX loop on/off switch of the leg controller. I have to go back to hitting the stomp-box button manually. No biggie........In the end it's just a trade-between convenience & tone, and as everyone knows; "tone trumps all else".

It would be nice if Quilter had a 3-way switch for the FX loop remote, that allowed FX to be off or allow the signal chain to enter either at the front or backend of the preamp stage

I put this pedal in the effects loop. It gives a Dobro-like sound.
